Thread regarding Scientific Games Corp. layoffs

Bally vs WMS hating/culture clashing.

Getting really tired of the us vs. them mentality here. Bally people thought they were a great company before SciGames/WMS purchased them. Well, WMS people felt the same way (was a great company before SG purchased them). But instead of joining in hands as brothers with the same plight, Bally continues to despise and look down upon their WMS brother. What a crock. Grow up people! You're all c-appy "Scientific Games" people now. Either get along or leave.

"People, I just want to say, you know, can we all JUST get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids? … It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice … Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."

Anyone who ever thought of working here will hopefully read this thread and realize these are the types of people that remain.

"Point exactly."

Wrong. Your childish behaviour (mirroring) isn't fooling anyone. But do feel free to submit your own resignation.

Point exactly. You are a big part of the problem Mate. Just put in your resignation and go grab yourself a pint. We can right this ship without you and your baggage.

Cheers!

Re: Work Together Or Get Out

And why are you visiting this site? To get cheered up? You daft w-------r r, everyone commenting on here is concerned for their own well being. So don't get your knickers in a twist Mate! if you stroll along blindly in this world with your head up your arse and someone points that out, is it the fault of the observer or you for having your melon up the chute?

Knob head.

Seems like I keep reading the same disparaging comments from the same Aussie bloke. Hopefully this parasite is not in a position of leadership. If you are not part of the solution and you are so unhappy with the opportunity you have do us all a favor, leave.

"Bally people thought they were a great company before SciGames/WMS purchased them. Well, WMS people felt the same way (was a great company before SG purchased them)."

Bullocks!

WMS was on the skids and for very good reason. Stale content, massive bureaucratic overhead, low ROI, barely treading water. That is why they were an easy target for SciGames.

SciGames obviously planned to eliminate some of the competition on the way to the real prize, Bally. WMS, there's a reason why you were given a massive enema. Mates also tell me there is a bit of a problem in the VP level of management.

Oh, and don't get too comfortable Bally. The same will happen to you as they milk your intellectual talent, then fake a distraught 'Oh my, I hate to do this, but..." then discard you like rubbish. They only wanted your customer base and knowledge, so don't be so surprised- SciGames board said that up front, if you were paying attention. This type of 90's Pac-Man maneuver is plain to the peepers, and if you have a bit of curiosity, simply refer to U.S. corporate takeover history.

Time for a pint!

The only effective ex-WMS management that's still around is Phil.

I cannot disagree more on this one particular statement. Open your eyes- Phil is likely the crux of the problem, along with any of his coat-tail VPs. Trust me, they like to hang onto to those VP individuals like a security blanket. All mergers have this, but eventually it will get cleaned up.

In the meanwhile, you tread water, or drown; it's up to you. You can get out of the pool, that's certainly an option.

You all realize SG has a number of other divisions making different products, right? It's not just a land-based provider anymore...the issues plaguing SG are not limited to one group.

A years-old conflict that you all made up just to be mad about something should be the least of your worries. Read the earnings reports and pay attention to the goings-on outside of your circle, and you'll start to see the bigger picture.

Nearly every division is struggling under the crushing weight of SG's debt, questionable leadership, and MAFCO's rotating CEO puppet show, but you don't see Lottery blaming it on one studio's instant tickets being better than another's.

This illusory Bally/WMS divide that once gave you an excuse to be p-ss-d off dissolved years ago, and we're all just trying to keep the ship afloat. Keep your ears to the ground and try to be civil with the people you consider your enemy because they're probably equally victimized by the poor decisions up top.

What WMS people are you (all?) referring to anyway? My goodness, the acquisition of WMS is going on 5 years old. After all of the layoffs and all of the people who left, there really aren't many people left around who were here "when it was WMS." Even fewer who were here for any significant amount of time, from when it was WMS. The only effective ex-WMS management that's still around is Phil. Gavin made sure of that.

We are where we are. If you keep holding angst against ex-WMS employees (who are largely no longer here), then maybe you should do some soul searching and challenge your internal demons instead of projecting outward.

I'm just wondering, do u WMS people think about this alot? Do you have full conversations about this topic? I'm really wondering. Because I cant remember the last time I worried or thought about anything you guys are doing. I mean, we are cool, but us having separate lives is ok, right?

I hope I only have to state this once. Both Bally and WMS people are awesome. Both have been hit hard with every sort of problem. Dont blame either. There was NEVER a plan to unite the companies. It's always just been about investors being to bothered to invest in 2 separate companies, and we get to be the pawns of course. The dissent and competition is EXPECTED by these people. FIGHT OR DIE. Dont give in to the temptation to blame anyone. We did this to ourselves, we have to get it together, we won't survive otherwise.

So, your biggest worry, one that stopped you and compelled you rant about, is if mom and dad are still in love? If that is a real concern you worry about day to day, I am jealous of your problems.

Nice blanket statement dude! It's so refreshing to hear that you have personally extended a hand or any effort at all to remedy the problem! You are self confirming you own bias, its obvious. Bally person here, and here is the secret...we dont have anything against you, and your paranoia is unfounded. I would love to work with you guys. But that is not the narrative you want, so make up some other sh!t so you have some one to blame and shop already, this echo chamber is deafening.

As an ex star games (sydney office) employee, doing my best to endure a poisonous, toxic den of narcissistic snakes, managers that enlist lackeys to spy on your every move, who you talk to, what you say, who you try to befriend, stifling your ability to connect with others, discouraging others from sharing knowledge with you, intentionally putting you on the wrong track, leaving you in the dark, willing you to fail (rather than willing you to succeed), etc...

In comparison, what I sensed from wms/bally felt a lot better. I sensed your teams had better knowledge sharing via wikis/confluence/yammer/slack, and the uptake/traction of it was good, I admired you guys for that.

In contrast, such endeavours where I was based were intentionally stifled, they did not want to make it easy for you to understand their legacy, they wanted it to be as difficult as possible, and make you suffer as much as possible.

So I can't help but wonder sometimes if we poisoned you guys with our toxic culture.

But anyway, happier days now, moved on to greener pastures, time to heal.

Hope those of you that are still hurting there can find some place better in time, keep your eyes open for any opportunities to move on, all the best.

Yeah, I agree with the Brit. If you don't want to work in an atmosphere of angst and despair, try adjusting your own 'stinking thinking' and leave others be. As far as the rivalry, anyone that can read knows who was doing what prior to SciGames purchase of both companies. You can't argue with the numbers. Bottom line: if you are unhappy, perhaps it is you that should leave? Lest you forget: you reap what you sow.

Curious commentary blokes. Could it be that both of you w-------rrs are displaying the exact divisive attitude you are complaining about? After all, you get back what you put out, mate.

Bally people can look down on WMS all day. Look at what happened when all the Bally management was put in place. They drove this company right into the ground. They all deserve what they’re getting now.
