Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Reporter looking to talk to people about Micron

My name is Margaret Carmel and I am a reporter with the Idaho Press. I've heard a lot about the ongoing layoffs at Micron and am trying to write a story about it and the upheaval at the company. If you would like to talk with me anonymously or on the record about what is going on, please send me an email at [email protected]

Hope to hear from you!

Please, please investigate the story! There is definitely a major story to be told. Many people, who worked and was loyal to Micron for over 20 years, were dismissed without cause and were threatened not to talk to the Press (forced to sign a non-disclosure letter.) Very questionable labor practices.

Agree that you should look at the glassdoor reviews. Keep in mind that many are bogus 5 star ratings that I believe are planted by the company. However, there are posts that are real and tell it like it is. There is one long post from a top executive that I highly encourage you to find and read. It is very well written and enlightening.

Margaret here...

I should have clarified my post. I would love to talk to anyone about this, whether they're still at the company or who have been laid off.

Take a look at the glassdoor.com employee reviews about the company. I am not sure you will have much luck about anyone contacting you as there is too much fear of what could come in the new job search to whistle-blowers. We do need someone to publicize our story though.

I did not get laid off but chose to leave on my own. Really sad how good people are getting ran off right now.

Good luck, we look forward to reading your story. Be sure to come back here and share when it hits print.

When the layoff group met, most everyone was over 45, possibly over 50. I had worked a long time, knew lots of stuff. Trained people in India to do my job. They didn't pay attention and lost the procedures.

I hear it's a mess in accounting now.

Micron treats employees like c-ap - that is all you need to report !

Should talk to some of the people who lost jobs after the evaluation system changes. It's a welcome story as its kinda like their way to get around state reporting requirements for layoffs. Lot of questions to be asked about the demographic that got booted and how much managers knew about the whole thing. The scuttlebutt sure ain't favorable for the execs. Not sure how sustainable it is year over year either.
