Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

This is BP's biggest issue

BP has a reputation of promoting to management friends of friends. Check websites with BP’s reviews and there is an over abundance of bad management reviews.

This right here. This is BP's biggest issue. There are very few good managers, and that is affecting all employees and productivity. Not to mention it's causing us to lose some of our best employees who leave on their own because they have been passed over for a promotion one time too many.

This has to change.

If you were less bitter about your station in life you might not have been a failure.

Was a joint interest partner with BP on one of the world’s largest oil fields many years ago. Even then, they were technically incompetent (or certainly ignorant) and lied through their teeth despite hard data and real science. The biggest charlatan went on to become their CEO until he was forced to resign in disgrace. Culture is caustic...and causal!

Every board on this site claims only friends and family get promoted or retained. It’s a miracle that the industry can produce a single drop of oil.

Check their compliance and ethics function full of less than qualified managers and directors. What can you expect in the rest of the organization? BP does not change; it reached its design limitation! at Macondo.
