I am not sure how many were let go, but I was one of them. I was only at athena a short time but, I realized early on they spent a lot of money in R&D, were driving strategy from too many directions and it wasn’t going to be sustainable. I accepted an offer the day of the acquisition announcement back in Nov. I was hired as a Product Manager, pressured to relocate and then let go yesterday. After I was with the company a month, I realized I was basically creating a product from within “operations” and this organizational structure was spending a lot of money without any ROI. I always wanted to work at Athena. I’m great at what I do. The changes needed to happen. It’s going to take some time and I suspect a lot more “realignment”, but I’m hopeful customers will see more value as a result. Even though I’m heartbroken, I would have eliminated my job as well.
