Was let go after 18 years with company. Position eliminated. All they said was "we are not prepared to offer you another position at this time." No assistance with placement. Would to apply and interview like everyone else for another job. No transfer, nothing.

The Corporate Tax breaks are intended to allow the corporations to "create new jobs"- in theory this benefits the middle class. The problem arises when you get a greedy corporation (like MGM Resorts) who uses the extra money to invest in technology to eliminate jobs. By 2020 they will be displacing thousands of workers as they implement machines that replace bartenders, cashiers, room service attendants, etc. A corporation like MGM Resorts that uses its tax beaks to ELIMINATE jobs instead of CREATING jobs should lose its tax breaks!
Keep in mind that as they are laying off all of these people they are raising prices for the consumers too. ( Beware of the $4 hidden charge many of the outlets add on to the price of your drink without your consent!) TRUE CORPORATE GREED!@#!! ZERO REGARD FOR THE WORKING OR CONSUMING MIDDLE CLASS!@#!
Any Las Vegas native will tell you that MGM Resorts GREED has ruined the appeal of Las Vegas for the middle class and Vegas locals- PARKING FEES- RESORT FEES- HIDDEN FEES FOR ALREADY OUTRAGEOSLY PRICED DRINKS- HIDDEN 'DYNAMIC PRICING' HIKES. Thanks to your greed, locals hate the Strip!@#!
They are not done yet... an additional 500+ Managers are expected to lose their job in the next 2 weeks. Our life is on hold and they control our future right now and making us wait to find out if we are one of the 500+.
I am so sorry! As a Las Vegas resident I am very worried for everyone. And frankly Murren better watch his back becuase they have not been a good corporate neighbor! Cuts may be necessary but you do not 1 - lie about it 250 managers is actually 1100 line level! And 2- you do not make people wait 6 embarrasing hours to find out they are fired. Anger is at an all time high.
