Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Nordstrom is doomed

Retail is dying, and the FLS is the soul of the company. It cannot survive as a website, a mere fulfillment channel. Nordstrom was always about the shopping destination experience, quality merch, a nice restaurant, the best sales staff.

The stock will dive under $40 soon and keep going, to $20, then lower. The initial spend of $400 million for the dirt for the Manhattan FLS will soon be met with massive ongoing overhead and expenses once the women’s store opens. It has to do heavy sales just to break even. Recession ...

The condos upstairs in NYC will fail spectacularly, wonder if this means additional liability for JWN.

It was a nice store once. Now endure the slow death. When the next cuts at corporate center? So much deadwood.

So what is Nordstrom as a pure online retailer? A mobile app? A supply chain? You cannot win this war.

You are wrong. FLS have been in decline by 2-3% annually for 10 years. In that time, "The website" has grown to more than 30% of JWN total revenue. The future is clear, and physical retail is not a part of it.

$jwn making new 52-week lows with each new day. Earnings next week. I can’t wait to read the next 10-Q.

Hopefully Nordstrom learned a tough lesson seeing Sears go bankrupt. Guess we will see.

$jwn under 37.50 today.

Aren’t you glad the company spent so much on share buybacks? How much did the execs blow on that? The money will be missed when you are triaging dying FLS.
