How your Review and AIP really works

I was going to write a long post but I’ll keep it short.

You are first reviewed probably pretty fairly by your manager. Then the staff VP or VP will step in and reduce. All managers are allowed only 20% max of their team to get an exceeds. Your manager has no control so don’t blame them. VPs will usually push for their favorites to get higher ratings regardless of performance.

Your AIP is the same. Every manager is given a pool of dollars. For the past few years VP levels have asked managers to give back money from the pool so they can give to their favorites. The reduced pool is spread out, once again Staff VPs will step up and tell managers to reallocate. Also the AIP system will force anyone with exceeds to have a minimal 20% bigger AIP than anyone else.

Be grateful you still get an AIP. They are changing the rules every year.

New hires from contractor pools are always awarded with better titles and compensation than existing associates. There is no career advancement in current department and you are rarely considered for opportunities in other departments . If you try to apply for other positions in the company, the hiring managers feel like they are trying to help but they do not as most of the full-time jobs are already reserved for contractor friends and their families.

I miss the days when retirees were given retirement parties and given a good send off. Now your basically just handed your walking papers and shown the door. How ironic that we are forced to complete the “I am Anthem” training knowing so well nobody feels this way anymore.

After almost 36 years of service, I just couldn't take any more and retired. At the same time, my manager also put in for retirement. Her reward was basically being walked out, as if she'd been fired, including not getting to pack up her personal belongings. I bumped my ladt day up a month at that point. I wasn't staying in a place that would treat a valued associate like that.

Many hirings in IT from last few years are questionable. It appears that all full-time jobs are already reserved for contractor pools and families with no opportunities for external people.

I agree with the previous post...great example is recent last year hirings and promotions in IT. Tim S got Nitin and he hired a bunch of useless folks from his prior gig - Ashwini, Satish etc. Promotion of Satish was totally questionable.

My experience was the same. I was told numerous years that my job performance deserved an Exceeds ranking, going above and beyond regular assigned tasks/responsibilities, but I would be receiving the 'Meets Expectations' ranking because the Staff VP had a 'favorites' list and would override any Exceeds ranking by the resource managers so the 'favorites' would receive the few Exceeds rankings allowed, along with the additional AIP bonus payouts. Promotions based on s---ing up and protectionism instead of true talent and expertise is one of many things dragging this company down....

Call out to all Anthem associates, loyalty and hard work is no longer rewarded by this company so just do what is required from your job and nothing more. Legato will soon be taking over and adding insult to injury we are being asked to train them to take over our jobs.

My reward for saving my department 5M, was my AIP payout getting reduced. I won't do that again.
