Thread regarding ShopKo Stores layoffs

Is anybody going to stay till the end?

I'm curious, considering that it is now pretty much a guarantee that severances will not be paid, who will stay in the remaining hundred something still open Shopko stores until June?

Why would anybody want to stay instead of leaving as soon as they can line up a new job - which shouldn't be that much of a problem right now?

PRIDE! HA!!!! just not professionalism by any means! well looks as though some aren't even getting a paycheck now by seeing some posts so dont blame any one of them for leaving when your not getting paid or promises that were made people have a future to plan and families to support.

it's too bad our management didn't have pride, professionalism and appreciation in their employees the 3 yrs i was there and felt it was ok to talk trash about them up until the last day of being open even after they stick it out till the end. I guess that must have been their way of saying thanks.

I should have walked out of that hostile work environment the first time i was talked down to by management or yelled and swore at in front of employees for no reason besides me doing my job the way it should be done. Just because management doesn't follow the SOP yet when i did and got up set when my stuff was messed up or not kept like it should because i was only doing my job how i was told, and i ended up the one getting knocked down for it? hmm... Glad i can say now that i work for a company that treats you how you should be treated with dignity and respect and as a family. glad i'm out of retail and the bs that went with it.

kudos to you, make sure to pat yourself on the back for staying those extra what 3 days after the store closed until they told you guys to leave the store once they filed chapter 7...Smdh

I agreed to stay on for 2 weeks after the store closed. I worked 2 days. The truck was picked up the second day and we were done.

Why stay till the end? Because it is called seeing your job through. Just because the company is shutting down why would you leave your fellow employees short of help? Seems pretty petty. It is true it looks like I am not going to receive my severance but I did receive my retention bonus. Which was worth way more anyways. Every single employee in our store worked until the end. We took pride in our store and made sure up to the very end we maintained our store standards. I was there 2 weeks after the store closed to finish up misc.stuff. Was pretty depressing at the end but I made a commitment and saw it through. Maybe as the court case moves forward the court will again authorize our severance, maybe not. As for Cobra with no company there will be no group plan thus no Cobra.

Don’t stay you still will not get what they promised! We were promised insurance for a month after, did not get. If you find another job take it

Can I get cobra if I leave now? Does the WARN notice play a part on getting cobra early? Do you have to stay till the end to get cobra? Does 'shopko' insurance end the minute I walkout? Nobody in HR are answering these questions.
