AmTrust is still laying people off. Makes you wonder if they are in financial trouble. I'm surprised this isn't in the media.

I was one of the over 400 laid off last Wednesday and Thursday and supposedly if you survived those two days and had a job on Friday you made it for now. When you go private and bring in consultants who view people as an employee # and salary on s spreadsheet odd are it's not good. I started looking 2 months ago as I had a feeling this was not going to be good. Best of luck to everyone.
It means if you're currently working at Amtrust you better start looking for another job ASAP!
At least 5 people from the underwriting department in Buffalo NY office were let go today.
If they follow the standard pattern that Tata Consulting Services is known for the first round will basically eliminate QA / Testing and normally 10-15% of your current development staff. Based on how the first knowledge transfer goes, the second round, most likely an additional 20%, will be informed after the first group is gone. TCS will normally transform your department in chunks of 20% each pass until they have about 85 - 90% coverage and you're left with managers and a few senior level people to guide the TCS teams. If I am a developer or QA/Tester at AmTrust present day, I am leaving immediately and avoiding this process. If you have been told TCS will hire you, that is normally not a good option unless you can absorb a 20% reduction in pay and benefits.
What does more layoffs to come mean? Any update would be appreciated.
