Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Large layoffs

Over 200 people were terminated on 25 & 26 April 2019 across many locations. My friend in Singapore was ask to leave as soon he reached office without any reasons along with around 20 other people. The management travels in charter planes, have so called leadership meetings in all groups at various locations in the world every quarter and they cut costs by removing people in such a manner. Pathetic.

I was one of them after 19 years of service and a very satisfied clinical customer base. The severance and 2 months of continued pay don’t even matter.

Lay off with no explanation after 2.5 decades. This place is not close to what it was. They hire less skilled diverse people that get trained by seasoned professionals, then let the seasoned professionals go. Lots of cliques that prevent the doers from getting promoted bringing managers from Intel and other companies to drive work they can't do themselves. If you drive projects good luck on getting resources it won't happen, then you are responsible for what happens. toxic environment now. What a shame.

It's sad. Companies don't realize what employees go through. It's a traumatic experience. I was jobless for 4 months after I got laid off. It was horrific 4 months of my life

it is the rock star mentality. CEOs think they are all above it all. I know one that flies the company jet to the east coast daily from his office in the midwest on company dime cause his spoiled family does not want to move and he now is in the top 50 CEO highest wages. Off the backs of the retired Americans. Yeah.. criminal. All of them. But we have had such good examples from our leaders, haven't we.
