I feel the same exact way! From 2005 - 2015 way too many stores opened within a 10 minutes drive of each other!

I spent 10 years in the HO in ISD (Information Systems Division). I recall one grassroots meeting where the Director explained WM's expansion and philosophy of opening stores. (A grassroots meeting is where you select people from several teams to attend a meeting to air issues and problems and to bring up suggestions to make things work better. BTW, they were as useless as the AES and never worked.)

Any given store has a 10 mile radius of customers. WM wanted to add stores within that radius to expand the reach of customers. This, of course, cannibalizes the customer base from the existing store, which I brought up in this particular meeting. The Director was like oh well this is the plans of WM because he was just another cog in the machine.

I knew the SM gets a bonus based on sales. I mentioned doesn't that impact their bonuses when another store opens up and takes away their sales? Won't the SMs be unhappy if their bonuses get cut? Again, I got crickets.
