Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

What’s your impact?

Well folks here we are... Closing our first quarter after filing for chapter 11. Below are my thoughts and perspective:

Performance: We continue to see improvement on retention. Growth sales are strong in some teams and soft in others. This validates that the continued shift in our market coverage is working and now needs to be accelerated and deployed with strict discipline.

Leadership: Make no mistake we will see change in the very near term. I am happy to see that there has been no immediate change or disruption but rather a period of observation. Accountability and Velocity of results will be the foundation of the upcoming transition within all departments.

Outlook: We will begin to focus on maximizing the market value of our inventory while keenly investing in our core capabilities and heritage. The way i interpret what I hear is why try and be something you aren't when what you truly are is more valuable.

In closing, realize that you control if you matter. Realize that you determine the impact you make. Collectively we determine what happens next.

I am positive about this, my impact is known and the future looks bright!!! How about you?

Thanks~

One Positive Guy

' Don’t kid yourself .... operation offshore jobs to India is still in full swing'

Right - but if offshore can't do the work, rely on the remaining 20 people in the US to take care of everything. Pretty much sums it up.

OPG - what i'm hearing from the new boss is focus on colo and workplace, in other words, let's fill up the inventory so we can sell it to make back some of the lost investment, also I'm hearing since we don't have the chops to compete and we don't want to invest in a true public cloud strategy, let's not emphasize that because it's only going to cause investment that we don't want to make while we're trying to monetize what's left, also by the looks of things we're not back filling outside sales defectors so we're pushing everything into the low cost inside sales team, I'm not being negative, just stating my perception of what's going on, one person's positive outlook because it's your job to be the cheerleader doesn't make you right and me wrong

A college professor offering his or her or (gender pronoun neutral and therefore much more comfortable for our professor friend) ITS opinion on company culture. An opinion on corporate America coming from the safety and security of academia. What a joke. Do they have layoffs at your school. You know what they say: Those who can't do, teach. Please go back to not doing anything and we will carry your water for you.

You have no clue as an outsider... come work with me for 30 days. Then make a conclusion. Watch your Co workers get let go just so they can hire over seas. For what!? To save money, that has not worked! SunGard was an SP 500 company. Greed is the issue not neg thoughts. You have to understand the beast my friend.

It’s very interesting to see where people minds go. Such a high level post by OPG allowing people to interpret how they wish. Like clockwork the comments all fall in the gutter. Even derogatory commentary about a new leader who hasn’t even had the time to make a mistake before you pass negative judgement. With this type of attitude you don’t have a chance. I don’t care if you had the likes of Steve Jobs as the new leader. Without the people behind him a leader useless. You are doomed because of you and nothing else.

OPG is correct, you collectively determine the outcome.

I am just an outsider, a college professors studying the impacts of social media and company culture.

Things are getting better. Big Mike is going to MSGA by selling what we are great at. That will help us become who we need to be.

I disagree, OPG is clearly from NA. I don’t think he is referring to the UK. I think he is referring to the recent success in the West region and our Commercial team always delivers.

I am interested to understand this new “coverage model”

My value is known!!!

OPG - let me attempt to decode your post... things in U.K. going ok, US results are falling behind. When you say maximizing sgas inventory to market value equals asset sell off... i hope I’m wrong, I wish nothing but the best for sgas employees, but look at the track record of new owners, they have never built a business back up..... they have always sold off assets to recoup their investment....

Hopefully that is not the case this time and they have a new business model....But, hope is a terrible strategy.... get out now....

Thanks OPG wish you could be more specific. I feel a bit conflicted as I agree the wave of negativity does seem to have subsided. But there is this feeling like everyone is waiting for something to happen.

My value is well known too. At least by me lol!!
