There will be a massive layoff in G&A. Managers, Directors and Staff VPs have been meeting since April to make cuts on all job levels of the organization. Leadership has invested in automation and integration that were results of cost of care initiatives they couldn’t deliver with plans in place for bigger and better compensations. Get the word out and it’s only a matter of time. All states and regions are in play. Especially CA, NV and NY. The leadership has no appreciation of the so called front line associates in the department and has been prepping for July.

The previous person hit the nail on the head. Will anything happen? Doubt it
When will they realize the reason behind all the nonsense is the self proclaimed Leadership the last couple of years and their rat pack they infested G&A with? Most probably never yet we are going to get laid off ??? Someone needs to take this to Gail Boudreaux and explain that THAT is what’s going to cause a dent in her bonus not us.
Well before they even get a chance to riff people are looking to leave anyway. Everyone is sick of being under WFM. WFM is k–ling the department.
I agree with the previous person. Morale is low. We are micromanaged by WFM and leadership. They want more for less. I really think their plan is to drive us out so they don’t pay severance when they lay us off.
Morale in G&A is really bad right now. It feels like it’s at all levels of the department. With the riff still on the table it will only get worse when that happens.
Everyone is sick of how bad PEGA is. We are being assessed on our hard work with a system that is setting us up to fail. Please bring leadership that knows our business !
The new leadership won’t be able to release the original expected cuts. The compliance is RED. The new PEGA system is a disaster. Too many promises have been made about system improvement.
The cuts should be the prior leader and all who handled the approval and testing of this system.
My cases take me twice as long.
I was just told about this website and wanted to share my experience. A few months ago back in May I was approached by my manager to discuss possible retirement. It was brought to my attention that I had mentioned retirement in the past and maybe it would be a great time to do it now. Felt like I was being pushed into it. I expressed my displeasure being asked to move to NV about a year ago and now being asked to retire ? So I told my manager I would think about and it was never brought up again.
I have been in G&A for 15 plus years. It has never been this bad. I don’t blame the VP who was just let go as much as others. It’s the one before her that brought the department to it’s knees... So what happens now? The previous post says the layoffs are still happening.
ZLtBD91-xkko Nope just speculation. I don’t have any information any of the rest of us don’t have, searching this board daily for clues, just making a prediction based off observation. I have no idea what happened or the circumstances surrounding it with our most recent VP. The previous poster asked if new leadership will follow the same path as her, my thought (not knowledge) is that yes they will as I BELIEVE these directives come from the top and the intent won’t change. So unsettling!
@ZLtBD91-uvld You seem to know a lot of details. Are you a Grievance and Appeals manager or director ? If you know all this then why is it that you want associates to give 100% when you just acknowledged the lay offs coming soon.
@ZLtBD91-tsvd I don’t actually feel it was her directive as I reflect on it. She was sending people to work at home, approving and offering overtime incentives, approving promotions, and seemingly doing things very differently from the direction previous leaders seemed to be going. Not sure what there was not to like. I think she genuinely wanted to reward her employees with pay and work life balance. I’d be willing to bed the directives were above her and the concern remains the same.
We received some positive news this week that our staff VP was let go. Not sure how this changes the plans for the layoffs. Has anybody heard if the new leader coming in will follow suit ?
Any day now
Anything anyone has heard lately ?
I was told today it’s going to happen. Everyone who is working their tail off and cares about what you do it won’t matter. You are just a number and have a $ value to their staffing models.
If you are going to stay with Anthem that is your choice but G&A definitely is not a place to work and be successful. PEGA s---s and so does the management. I have been with G&A near 20 years and it’s time to get out.
This whole department needs to be investigated by E&C. Lies .... Lies ... and more LIES!!!
@ZLtBD91-cbsc your lead confirmed the rumor?
Is this week the week? Does anyone have any updates? I was told by my lead today it might be delayed again.
100% agree with @ZLtBD91-6qwl and the previous post. The department is on a downward spiral to destruction. It is all because of the people mentioned in previous posts.
Well speaking of leadership ! We now have a Staff VP that has turned G&A into customer service and claims and has no idea what she is doing. Lisa Byrd needs to go! She sends monthly emails like people are children as if everything is dandy ! She has made everyone’s life miserable at work ! She is all about the numbers and the bottom line ! Trying to get more for less ! Every time !
I was offered to move to the NV office and now my position is on fragile ground. Run from this department!!!
Nobody knows when this is supposed to happen. At first it was supposed to be in June now it’s July. If this impacts Grievance and Appeals under Jennifer Wade’s organization then it’s only a matter of time. At this point this leadership is clueless and has no idea what they need to be successful especially appointing a leader who has no experience in management to oversee Grievance and Appeals. July they might actually be doing everyone a favor for all to go out and find something better.
Anthem is a rat trap corporation probably with a big hand in the o---id epidemic. They wanted to cut hospital stays. Physicians prescribed a boatload of pain k--lers. I am sure Anthem saw the volume of pain k--lers being claimed. They did nothing. They caused deaths through their negligence. They pretend to be socially responsible when they are not. If the execs knew about the epidemic and let people die through their massive power they should be locked up.
Get your facts right. Tom Miller and Gloria McCarthy are all over these other threads. Now give us names ! Tom Miller was the sole reason for the site strategy and to eliminate [email protected] and then bailed. Give us names for G&A!
Don't post names here.
Mods will nuke the entire thread and will block your IP (+ will delete all posts/replies you ever had)...
Commercial meaning not government business division. Government business division is a different department.
CA, NV and NY???? I work in CA, when in July is this supposed to happen. Does anyone know the date ? My manager did tell me to expect changes soon but I wasn’t thinking layoffs. I am a G&A Analyst and review cases. All this has to be because they wasted money on PEGA and it doesn’t work!
There’s only one commercial (CSBD) G&A unit. It should be self explanatory which leadership it is.
Can anyone provide names of the leadership mentioned earlier ? I work in G&A and want to know if it’s my department. We did change leadership late last year and they don’t know how to manage anything anyway.
I know, getting RIF'd is terrifying and humiliating. I was left fear and had so many questions. I didn't know where to start. There's a lot of rants out here but also some answers to questions about severance and things like that to help with the transition. Education is empowering and restores a sense of control rather than feeling victimized or angry.
This is just my perspective. I don't mean to minimize anyone else's experiences,
PDM and PDQM I heard are RIFs too
Sorry, what can possibly ease the sting of being RIF’ed ?
Thanks to the OP for the heads up. Good luck to all those impacted. There's a lot of information about the RIF process out here in other threads. Hopefully some of it will ease the sting.
What do you mean by commercial?
