What can be done? Companies signing with Anthem Inc. insurance can insist that employees servicing their accounts be located within the United States. In addition any of the government contracts medicare/medicaid/Federal Government Services can insist on the same. But as Melody herself indicated she also takes ownership in her own career. Some individuals took a lateral move or a step down to obtain a position in areas using new technology so that their skills would not be come outdated and unique only to Anthem. I realize this is not always easy...requiring a geographic move that some with families just are unable to pursue. Yes, I lost my position as well...small location - not front facing with group/customers. But Melody, myself and others from Anthem have excellent skills and aptitudes and we will find new positions!

Yes, the interview was dated 6/29/2019 and is very current. She talks about the history of outsourcing at anthem starting with 2002, and progresses up to today. I remember the major layoffs under mark boxer back in 2006/2007 that G.M. drove... that’s when outsourcing started to heat up.

This video is from YEARS ago. She talks about layoffs in 2002. She sounds like a drone and in all honesty, I would fire her too. This is not helping the situation at all.

This is happening in EVERY large corporation that has an IT department. Unfortunately, as long as it is legal, it will continue to happen because in the USA, it's the shareholders who run things and what they want is return on investment, no matter the human cost.

This is a great interview and I can confirm all of it is 100% true. I too have been with Anthem now for 21 years and ever since we were bought by Anthem it has gone down the drain as more and more IT jobs have been shipped out to India. This practice of replacing US IT workers with Indian offshore workers will only get worse now that Anthem have established their own IT contracting Company named Legato based in India.

Interesting interview. I didn't realize this had been going on for so long. Its sad this all boils down to the dollar and not the person. I don't have high hopes for the company. Its all about lining the pockets of leadership.

Sounds like the Layoffs have been happening for many years in small batches to keep it Low Profile.

The Layoffs this time (in 2019 and future) seem different than prior waves. Maybe it is the lack of a reasonable Severance Package also. The last bunch to get that was the Special Package offered in June 2017.

Now you have to apply for Unemployment if your Under 62 and the only other is Anthem Supplimental Unemployment Benefits that you have to sign Release on. The SUB makes up to you Gross weekly Salary for how ever many weeks benefit you earned, whether on UE or not required. Maximum number of weeks SUB and UE is 26 weeks.
