Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Fry's Anaheim is a Ghost Town

Went to Fry's in Anaheim today. I last went in November and the store was busy as usual, but today it seriously looked like a ghost town. At first glance the shelves looked full but I soon realized that is ONLY the outer shelves that you can see when you enter the store. All the interior shelves are at least 50% empty. There was only one register open and no line which is UNHEARD OF so far as Fry's goes. I almost got a little emotional because I do have a lot of memories there, I have been going to that store since I was a little kid, and got the parts for my first PC there with my dad when I was 11. It truly is the end of an era, but all in all, it's just brick and mortar, and the good memories will stay with me. I always heard they treat employees poorly so at least their suffering will end, but at the same time sorry they are going to be out of jobs. RIP Fry's!

Do you still work at Fry's or were you laid off?

I currently work at Fry's and have for the last 4 years. If I had spent any of that time suffering then I wouldn't have stayed. My time with Fry's has been very satisfying. The best part of my job is all the people I work with. I like every one of them. And I hear that from them too. We all get along very well. The customers are usually pretty stoked about coming to Fry's. I've heard at least 2 or 3 stories about when people come to San Diego they make it a point to come to Fry's. The management is cool. The work is pretty easy. The supervisors are pleasent and fair. If Fry's fails everybody loses a good thing. We all hope it won't.
