I heard from 4 employees who were laid off last time that they received a specific training about age discrimination 1 month before they got laid off. Their managers trapped them into discussion of age discrimination and recorded them with no consent. This was a basis of the layoff for each of them. If you have this, please comment so that we know it is a pattern from HR.

It's not only at VMware but also at Apple, Amazon, Netflix, Adobe and Facebook too. Indians rule the roost and discriminate against others with impunity.
I worked at NSX for 6 years. Experienced 9 layoffs. They come in all forms and shapes. Yes, if you are not Indian, then you gonna get all sort of tactics against you. We all know it, live with it or find a worthy company like I did.
That is a known tactic at VMware. Not the age but in general, when a director wants to screw up someone, they get him on a toxic friendly discussion to trap him.
Don’t ever buy the idea that there is civil discussion with managers. It is toxic culture. Managers rule no matter how toxic they are. Staff are just a line of sheet to be replaced. Especially, highly qualified staff. Because they are danger.
This is not new. It is known HR tactic.
There is also another trap called ‘Etica’ Which is a 3rd party that allows employees and non employees to speak up anonymously and a person from employee relations gets assigned for it. It is a tactic to slay whistle blowers and cut anyone who does not obey the manager.
It is what it is. Like it or go find another place. Especially, if you are not from India.
I’ve been at NSBU NSX for 9 years waiting for my green card
Were those laid off employees over or under 40 years old?
