The general direction I'm seeing is a more aggressive preference to hire remote virtual sales staff in RTP and replace natural wastage in SVL with RTP resources. Also seeing a centralization into SVL and RTP.

RTP bias seems to come from you can pay half what you have pay in SVL, cost of living, and the bias to RTP and SVL is down to lack of trust in remote offices where management feel they can't tell how hard you're working.

Basically be in SVL for corporate big brother and better pay with slow traffic, or RTP for $125K. Everywhere else expect cuts.

Not sure if this is true, but have heard that the intent was to add to the work force by hiring new grads/less senior at low cost and lay off senior talent/hirer waged talent. In which case to Wall Street and company you keep the number of employees up and keep the cost low.

I've known a few impacts but I also agree that 2500 sounds very unlikely. Intelligence in sales is what really needs to grow. To many folks with no clue dropping the ball.

Hi - I can't believe NetApp has laid of 2500+ people just since April - it would be very noticeable. I have not noticed or known of a single layoff, but I do hear that there have been some very small impacts. 2500+ people? That's almost 25% and us employees would sure notice that! I think the 2500+ since April, is not correct info ...

Since mid-April, NetApp has laid off 2500+ resources. No notification required at the fed level. They give notice, terminate and pay continued benefits and wages for a time frame of 30, 60 or 90 days based on time of service. That’s no company to work for. Glad I’m out. I’ll spend the rest of my career telling every customer I can the truth about NetApp. The company is not one to work for let alone purchase from.

63 impacted? Small.

You're a fool to work more than you have to at NetApp, work to improve your skills and network to be in a high state of attractiveness to your next employer. Storage is in decline so storage skills not one to grow, Cloud is growing and plenty of cloud opportunities in NetApp, work smarter not harder. With portable skills you'll get a job soon enough.

I was laid off today. They gave me 60 days of continuous pay and benefits for the four years I was employed. I am paid now through August 10 to keep my mouth shut and sign an NDA. So much for working 100 hour weeks over the past year and a half and not being compensated for the overtime. I was advised within my paperwork that over 63 people were included in the layoff I am a part of today.

FYI - Corporate IT has deployed utilization monitoring tools to be installed historically on all assets connecting to corporate NetApp. This means those with little to no utilization will be shortlisted and laid off automatically. Say goodbye to the days of double dipping.

I’m confused as to why they don’t offer a voluntary lay-off in order to avoid impact it is having work force culturally.

All the best employees with the highest chance of getting a better role elsewhere immediately start looking, then hand their notice in to get the extra payout.

I don't know what is coming, the secrecy may be related to being acquired by someone?

SE managers aren't invited to meetings about these level of talks.

SE managers aren't included in mass firing decisions. Those are made by country managers and area VPs.

(Ex. SE manager)

It this way.

The only problem I have with acquisition speculation is...why are insiders selling shares BEFORE such a transaction would take place? https://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/ntap/insider-trades

There is for sure something big coming, a lot of SE managers in secretive meetings. I don't know what is coming, the secrecy may be related to being acquired by someone?

Personally I WANT to leave NetApp it is totally different from when I joined, the penny pinching and almost Stalinistic top-down shouting of instructions, not listening, is making me just want to hide with the customer and avoid everything internal. Good customers, good products, awful management who seem to be given awfulness training. They'll be on thumbscrews training next, possibly a dunking stool in HQ?

There was a sales commission cap which was frankly a perfect demonstration of how to piss on your best people.

If they offered voluntary redundancy they'd find a waiting list! What is keeping me around is they pay well so its just avoid the jerks - the management - and spend as much time with customers the all-hands and management will allow.

How many more people are they going to get rid of? Many of the top 1% in talent are now gone. Sales teams need talented SA’s to sell. As of today, feedback through the USA is negative in general for NetApp. Why anyone would invest in a solution is beyond me. Here I sit, waiting for the gavel to strike. Why I’m still here is beyond me. I think it’s time to sue NetApp. A class action is already brewing from what I hear.

Marketing did a lay-off last week! At least 7 managers! Every department is sc-aping and burning! Either a raise to see who turns out the lights or curious kurian and his brother will be running one company together when the big G acquires us.
