Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

How much has UoPX been spending on marketing and ads?

Despite all the losses, University of Phoenix continues to spend bundles of federal government money on its fantasy land ads.

"According to iSpot.tv data, among the most visible marketers that bought time in the “Big Bang” finale were Universal Pictures (“Yesterday”), the University of Phoenix, Nissan, State Farm, Verizon, Gillette, Capital One, Apple (iPhone), Google Phones and Facebook (Portal)."

"Media buyers last week said 30-second spots in the “Big Bang” finale had fetched as much as $1.4 million a pop...."

@ZoBT0q3-6nxv, maybe because you are working? Or because you are too busy looking at whatever you are looking at online. Have you not seen the Google Non Sense ads embedded in your favorite web page?

Type in "University of Phoenix" three times in Google, say "I'm not in Phoenix anymore," and see if an ad ends up in your favorite websites.

"I haven't seen a single ad from them in ions."

Yeah I don’t see much chance for a turn around given present circumstances

Maybe it will all make sense after you listen to the Chief Academic Officer talk to Fox 25 in Oklahoma.

@ZoBT0q3-2adm, given Apollo Education's leadership, what odds do you place for an improvement?

Not sure what options there are for a rebrand?! I think the product has to be refined and strengthened first.

Maybe they should re-up for naming rights to the UoP Stadium. That was only a few million a year or so!

@ZoBT0q3-1yvs, from hope ("We Rise"), to nostalgia ("A University Built for Working Adults"), to fantasy. And that's what's left, fantasy. Fantasy covering up something less optimistic: a subprime college backed by vulture capitalists, but incapable of making a long-term profit because its image is so stained. Any ideas for a rebranding?

Dragon commercial ?! I don’t understand how the dragon commercial shares any factual information or benefits of U of Phx over other colleges. Aren’t commercials supposed to explain what makes one product better than others? The commercial just tells you to be brave and go to school... I don’t get why so much was spent?!? That’s insane. So everyone watching Big Bang finale will become a student? When I see commercials for other schools they explain what makes themselves stand out (price, offerings, ease, theoretical orientation, etc) ... I would never choose the school based on seeing a vague dragon commercial. I want to know why the school stands out specifically!

If they are spending that much, why are they closing campuses like there is no tomorrow. Something smells rotten in Denmark here...
