Over the last 2 months positions I have applied to at Raytheon end up with the req being cancelled. What is going on. Also has anybody been hired through a hiring event? I attended 1 and there were no new open roles and no on the spot interviews.

Job reqs are often put in and then removed, when management wants to hire a specific person they have already have identified. Also job reqs are put in as bait for a unicorn, and when the unicorn doesn't appear they pull the req.
Suggest you check the news on the "merger" or more accurately, the acquisition of RTN by UTC
I am sure HR will be hit hard after the merger
You can thank the Raytheon HR folks for applying to job reqs and never getting contacted. Like most companies, Raytheon has to many HR types and way to many HR managers. It's like HR has hijacked the hiring of people at most companies these days. I can't say I have ever met any sharp HR types. It seems a lot of them barely got though college earning a HR degree. So the question is why isn't Raytheon and other companies thinning their HR herd?
