Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

WD’s odds of closing its door just got boosted by 3x.

Looks like WD is going to poke up China, two years after pissing off Toshiba. Great way to “continue to lead ..”

You mean this? http://zonedstorage.io/introduction/zoned-storage/

Sure, "zones of zoned storage devices must be written sequentially" just limited your customer base. Do you really expect AWS, Microsoft or Google to use WD software (even if open sourced)?

Let me tell you about the complete failure of my WD RAID- yeah, failed to rebuilt when one of the drives failed. Had to remove all WD software and use standard tools. Fortunately, there was a backup (on Toshiba, btw).

After selling back the preferred holding back to Toshiba, Seagate made $80M in their investment with TMC in one year. It is clear who is on the smarter side when it comes to investment.

WD’s big data and AI/ML give nothing but smoke. Do these things help WD get any smarter?

dumb--s spotted.

US export ban equally applies to Seagate.

So no one is selling it to the entity till its lifted.

Trade wars are nasty and it destroys a lot of economic activity.

Remember floods ?

Companies who treat their customers with respect in bad times are the ones who make ton of money when situation improve.

Clearly ex employees waiting for doom and gloom.

Not gonna happen.

Company will go through tough tine but will come out ahead.

Keep up with your hate filled posts till that time.

I do not think Huawei peoples want to post anything here. WD is only small part of Huawei's partners, and Huawei will continue to move on with or without WDC. Actually I think Huawei may get better price on HDD if they work with Seagate. As an old WDC people, I know WDC has the real problem. Many peoples, and managers do not pull WDC ship forward, but drag it backward. WDC need a serious operation in order to survive.

Clearly an agent of Huawei writing this post. You really think WD leadership is smart enough for the kind of consperacy you're eluding to?

This boils down to two simple facts: 1. WD leadership is desperate. 2. Trump is unpredictable.

Yes politics with Huawei were already going sideways when WD inked the deal, but WD NEEDED that sale. They had no way of knowing the whitehouse was going to click its heals and make Huawei illegal to do business with.

I assure you, WD would be still be doing business with them if they could. WD will do business with ANYONE right now.

And hey, Mr. Wuawei hack, show some sympathy to the employees too. This Huawei disaster may be straw that broke the camel's back for the survival of a lot of departments.

SEAGATE market cap $12.24B

WD (the claimed leader): $10.55B

Did you hear Seagate making any splash?

If HW is such a thread, why did WD sign the alliance agreement on 4/8/19? That was a bad judgement to begin with. Then WD back peddled publicly and got the attention of all the media. What is exactly WD trying to accomplish? Maximize the eventual retaliation?

Macroeconomics

US law required all companies to stop trade with the concern entity.

Are you dumb?

WD signed alliance with Huawei on 4/8/19. The ink has dried yet. The signing ceremony photos of WD CEO COO and China GM with Huawei executives are still at WD website.

The whole sequence of events clearly showed lack of judgement, WD way of backstabbing (WD really good at it). You can backstab employee but if you backstab your customer the results will not be pleasant eventually.
