Rumors are beginning to spread that, with revenue forecasts down and the Bard decision weighing significantly on expenses, a restructure with possible layoffs is forthcoming for MPD in 2013. Currently, BU plans are to ramp up staff as much as possible before the new hiring restrictions, effective in 2013, exacerbating the problem of too many people who have too little to do. MPD is over-staffed now, ostensibly to propagate the "we are growing" message. In reality, we are stagnant, fat and lazy. Too much "freedom" too little fiscal responsibility. We are awaiting an MPD announcement, early in 2013, about project cuts. The outlook here is troubling.
