Shire is a really bad company to work for. You will eventually be laid off - this company is going nowhere and will either fold or be acquired. The leadership has only one interest - extract as much money for themselves. Salesforce is average, R&D is pretty bad so if you want to work for a company that has no future, go for it.

More layoffs scheduled for the newly acquired Los Angeles Baxalta plant in early 2017. So far, nearly 1/2 of this workforce has already been let go. Shire will move their plasma fractionation, fill finish and all other plasma related product manufacturing to Covington GA and then will sell the LA plant and assets. I'm getting out now before the local job market is flooded.
Let be a little logic here. All merged companies acts the same. Consolidate, layoff, and heartless. If you are part of the merger, anything goes. Lol. But the big lost is the actual company's itself. Letting go all the expertise and hire cheap pay out of college kids to do their jobs. No wander, things keep breaking and failing. Products lost due to errors and inexperience. Which is cost lots of money (million of dollars). So, why letting these people go? The quality work that they put theirs heart and soul operating day in and day out to get the company there it doesn't happen overnight. So why merged and destroyed the company if you wants to growth and to complete with your competitors. Thought
I agree with what has been said by the previous viewer. No open talks among management or employees. It is just like a long silent dirty Fart by some one and you can guess the dirty smell.
No ! There are no specific plans for either the existing employees or for new employees. All that Shire does is keep on creating SOP with no meaning . Senior Managers are just walking with Lap-Top and pretending as if they are busy. Treatment is not bad but what is the good ?
Shire is actually very good - If you look around our industry there are MANY other companies who treat people worse than Shire.
