I was one of the ones that got laid off in 2009 - they could have gone about layoffs in a completely different way. It did not matter how long you were with the company and how good your attendance was or how good your performance wat work was. The layoff was about dollars!!! The poor investors that already have tons of money will now be happy. The 7 years i was employed at Berry Plastics it was the same every time we were sold. The employees kept in dark.This state (MA)has to do something about the way employers treat employees, I called the labor board to ask a couple questions and the response I got was if you not a union shop we will not be able to do anything for you. The people that keep their jobs are back to 40 hours per week so the 36 hour plan was to keep the people making money for them while the department heads went around picking and selecting the people they wanted to keep working. Anyhow, the severance was mediocre at best...
