to all that BS I read about we will be just fine, get real, your job and everyone else is in serious jeopardy.

You are correct about getting rid of dead wait, but they also got rid of good employee's. Have you noticed that HOS is running adds for new hires as of today, while they have a large pool of good people sitting home hoping to get a call. HOS can bring in a new employee at a much reduced day rate and put him in the so call training program which will keep the new employee at a low day rate for a long period of time.

Please don't expect things to get better, it will get a lot worse.

I believe waiting for the stock to drop to $6/share would be good buy for day traders, this stock will be going up and down while traders try to ride it for as much as they can suck out of it

Hornbeck Offshore, I new it was going to happen

I was a former employee of HOS, even when the industry was clicking away at a fare pace, many employees, including myself, could not understand why their ego ran away trying to prove they could be the CHOICE of the industry. Any employee with knowledge of the service sector could see they were way over their heads with the new build program. They actually wanted to build as many as 3 times what they put out as of today. That talk was all over the fleet. I consider this strategy the down-fall of the company. Did they actually think they could compete with much better built vessels, and we know who that is, they own just about all the property in Fourchon. Feel sorry for all the mariners who will need to reconsider their careers. I consider myself lucky to be 2 years away from retirement, this industry was up and down for the last 35 years I have invested, and I'm sure it will never change.

The company is now about 1/3 of what it was employee wise. The first guy to post is gone, along with over half the former mariners. They said in an article all of their 240's, 250's, and 265's are going to be stacked and I think they all are. Loyalty for service doesn't count for anything, but we knew that already. The way they are laying people off though, most unprofessional thing I've ever seen. Guys coming to vessels and being told they have no job? Being told the day before crew change? Who are these people. At least have the decency to tell the mariner man to man his job is gone. Very unprofessional behavior! Remember this when they call you back and don't go unless they pay you your pay BEFORE the first pay cut. They will need you more then you will need them!70

Thanks to the likes of management, this company will need to drastically reduce their fleet to stay above water.

First round of layoffs happened Monday of this week. "Everything was fine" and "We are ahead" moments before mass layoffs. A second round of layoffs likely before Christmas.

I think we'll see 2010 repeat itself, many people are very anxious right now so be ready. Offshoring is a business that fluctuates and I think we'll see a large drop in terms of work that comes to us

We will do just fine, things will slow down a bit but we'll do fine

We'll see what happens. We will do just fine I believe. But prices keep dropping, we may see pink slips again. I think Boyce has been drinking a bit of kool-aid but since I am anonymous here I'll keep it civil

^^^^you must not have been at HOS in 2010 when a couple hundred pink slips were handed out the week of Christmas.

Hornbeck Offshore is to well run and has to many knowledgeable people working there to worry about layoffs. They may get rid of any dead weight that has slipped thru the cracks but believe Hornbeck will survive and come back stronger than ever, if you are smart you will buy stock in the company and show where your loyalty lies and make a lot of money, just saying.
