I heard some rumors that we might be having layoffs here at Home Depot corporate offices in Atlanta maybe in Q2 or Q3 of 2015. Now, this is not confirmed and I have no clue if any info is public but what I heard is that there will be some reorganization that will require some departments to merge and some to split so there will be some managers that will be redundant. Now, Home Depot has done this before so nobody should be surprised but I am really puzzled by our timing here as it seems that many things are very uncertain right now. If you look at what is happening with energy industry and folks are being let go almost every day, that’s a huge industry and they will start to spend less and that will trickle down to us and pink slips may follow. Maybe our leadership is able to see this and will be proactive to cut costs before things become a bit more ugly in the second half of the year? You never know, but it’s good for everyone to be ready. Also, I heard that we will be cutting folks in IT and that may happen even sooner, so again, I cannot support this with facts, it’s just a rumor that I heard from a co-worker (who by the way left Home Depot a few months back).
Post if you hear something, and I'll be back and post if I get any new info on Home Depot layoffs. For now, let's wait and see how things develop - if the economy picks up we might be in good shape afterall
