Auto field staff to be reduced 50% minimum. Half this year and half next at the latest. Primarily in California. Not a rumor. This has already been decided by CSAA. First announcement very soon, but no later than 8/1/18, likely much sooner. Just a... — read more

They gave up some of the greatest talents
I'm disgusted considering that they laid off a star employee, a person from whom everyone could learn a lot and with whom it was a pleasure to work. I'll be honest and say that I deserved that layoff more than he did, because I stopped making... — read more
It was needed… to an extent
Yes, was a horrible thing for those impacted. However, this was 3% of the company employees affected. Kemper has purchased multiple companies and retained all of the employees. This needed to happen much earlier. Not saying the methodology was right... — read more
You're lucky to be out of this mess
I don't mean to be callous but considering the mess Unitrin has turned into, all who were laid off should consider themselves lucky. You get a chance to start over in a better company with better leadership that knows how to treat valuable employees... — read more
President of Property and Casualty Division
In May, there was a town hall meeting where DS came with a bunch of higher ups and they all left in a limo! They made people come into the office on a Friday just because DS has a vacation home in FL and was going to be staying there for that weekend... — read more

Major layoffs at Kemper last week
Almost 200 let go last week alone! A lot more to come. At least everyone knows now, no more keeping secrets about the layoffs. Same old AAA, another year, more layoffs. Bumped from @TaMRcqu-80asm for info. It would be great if somebody could... — read more
Good luck on your dumpster fire hire of a CHRO Ismat Aziz

Act like an owner. Or not.
Kemper’s core value specifically encourages employees to Act Like An Owner. Speaking up and asking for assistance to help find a solution for problems is not what they meant by Act Like an Owner, apparently.
The company will never be able to attract such talents again
Cutting some of the most talented and loyal remaining people, apart from being demoralizing for those of us who have survived for now, is a great loss for this company. Will it ever be able to attract such talents again? I doubt it.
The reputation was already bad anyway
This company did nothing to help employees exit in a dignified and appropriate way. Exactly the opposite. Kemper's reputation was already bad and what will it be after these cuts? I personally think that the public perception of the company will be... — read more
Horrible
I feel terrible for the people let go. Agree some was likely performance based and probably needed to be let go, but some good people in the mix that didn’t deserve it. Sorry this happened the way it did.
