Like before Christmas in 2023 and their layoff is coming before the end of 2024.
Haven't hit the bottom yet
I fear we've got some more falling to do. Everyone new is from the enterprise space. How long will it take for all the new peeps to realize embedded is harder than they thought. Fully expect more great long timers to be let go or leave.
Windriver being merged into Aptiv AS&UX?
Our new HR leader is now from aptiv ASUX, Avijit now reports to the ASUX president and Aptiv is hiring positions that mirrors the studio teams. It sure sounds like they are getting ready to merge WR into Aptiv and replace most employees with cheaper... — read more
Death by a 1000 reports
Constant reporting out. Every week, month, quarter x5. So many reports and never any action or follow-up. No time to actually do work. Parent company is su-king the life out of WR. Not at the bottom yet.
Worst President
Seems like Avijit tanked a multi-million dollar just to get himself a cozy position with Aptiv. He tosses blame to sales, product, engineering. Everywhere but himself. Also tends to yell and throw things. Especially if you are not his... — read more
Quarterly layoffs to continue - no path, get out you have choices
Sales team is getting a lot of tough calls and vibe is much of the sales team that do not meet their quota will be gone this quarter. Quarterly results are not favorable and more cuts have to be made This is a death spiral

Quarterly layoffs are the norm - Aptiv (Parent Company) clueless about Software
This company was acquired last year by Aptiv an automotive Tier 1. This is an acquisition which Aptiv does not know how to manage, no understanding of what a software company playbook is and they view it in the lens of a manufacturing company. No... — read more
"Hiring Freeze"
I thought we were supposed to be in a hiring freeze yet we keep hiring VP's. A couple of Red Hat folks and others.
Lacking Generative AI strategy in Product Management Leadership
it is unbelievable how silly the Wind River Studio and Conductor product management leadership at this company has acted towards Generative A.I. for the past 2 years. When reporters as product management leadership about A.I. plans in the future... — read more
Death spiral, lack of vision and puppet President
Another round of lay off this week. This will now be a quarterly affair, so brace for it. If you are still here, better start looking for another place. No vision, re-investment thesis is flawed, do not know who is providing input to this strategy. ... — read more
President, Engineering VP, CPO, Developer exec team protecting themselves
They already know the product and company is failing and have known for two years. The President, Avijit, and much of the Studio Developer leadership, has only ever been interested in how far they can take their own personal relationship with Kevin... — read more
And Here We Go
Another round of layoffs
Future of Studio Developer?
After a purge of engineering staff in Dec. 2023, then cutting loose the contractors, and the recent stream of departures (including some key/senior engineers), what’s next (and when)?
Aptiv takeover
Interesting that WR is on a “Hiring Freeze” but have “hired” Aptive people as WR VP’s. I give til the end of the year and we are done.
And it begins
another round of layoffs.
Good riddence
WindRiver had a terrible culture. I suffered through an atrocious manager who made the work hostile, constantly made inappropriate comments about gender and personal relationships, & was just a bad leader. If you're still there, my advice is to run... — read more

What was the severance package for those who were laid off yesterday?
It’s December
We all know what that means. Hold on.
9 months later Still no close
I would like my SARs (Stock Appreciation Rights) payout soon.
The biggest reasons for leaving?
I was recently surprised when a colleague of mine left who always seemed very happy with his job and intended to stay here for a long time. The reason is neither the higher pay elsewhere, nor the atmosphere in general, but the feeling that he cannot... — read more
Deal Actually close?
Hearing nothing but crickets. Oh but we are voted a great place to work AGAIN. SMH.
Aptiv buys Wind River for $4.3B?!
Is this a good or bad purchase? How much WR's business is relevant to Aptiv? Also is anyone worried about cuts?
would you recommend working at WR as a new hire?

WHAATTTTT!!

The final dance
Is MK still enjoying the finer things in Japan on TPG’s dime? I heard he was having a blast with the family. Oh yeah and on the side he was “helping” transition the new sales leader to become president.
Worst president of wind river

Wow Made Q4 Numbers???
Nice way to work your butts off.
Nothing will change
TPG is in the business of cutting costs on stable businesses, not figuring out how to revamp and revitalize. TPG has no expertise in IoT/embedded, they have expertise in finance, management, and accounting. So they'll keep the old WR management, keep... — read more
