Good luck getting called back. Some locations are hiring new employees for positions that were furloughed and terminated. This was a convenient way to remove long term employees making too much money and replacing them with less paid.

How long does it take to get the severance money once you turn in the paperwork?

2 were let go in the Midwest PBE division Friday. Don't see how they can continue to let the foot soldiers go and possibly build sales. We not only drove paint and supply sales we took care of parts problems and also ran emergency runs to support parts sales. Made every quarterly bonus available to me . Got screwed on yearly bonus that was never explained to any of us why we didn't receive . Another company that has great opportunity with poor upper management decisions. Liked the job , hated the stupidity!

Rumor I heard from a driver is that the company plans on perm laying off even more people on furlough before bringing back whoever is left after the purge. Don’t know how factual this is but it wouldn’t surprise me. Besides that, I’ve had ZERO luck finding any employment that pays enough with insurance. It makes me want to weep applying for even an entry level position seeing 200 plus other applicants.

LKQ New England has the worst management team ( they all work in TAUNTON )
ZERO salvage experience and they do not take kindly to anybody who is smarter than they are.

All from a company that "values its employees". Apparently it likes the analysts and bankers more than the dedicated work force. Next heard they will be culling low volume pull-a-parts yards. Particularly in northern climates where business is more seasona

LKQ s—s, all they care about is making more money for themselves. Their severance offer was ridiculously low, and they only keep a– kissing employees who do nothing for the company. All of their customers will be using new vendors because they can’t handle the load. Hope they realize their mistake their sales plummet.

i can tell you that i left for a better opportunity after 22 years. boy am i glad. the higher ups are money hungry trying to keep the shareholders happy.. but look at how many corp. execs took a pay cut so you could continue.. not a freaking one..... says alot about a company.. 1/3 of the workforce is a way to rebuild to the way they want to.. get rid of the high paid reps. and start fresh... lkq does not have a family.. or friends

Got the termination packet. This is depressing, about 4 weeks worth of pay after 17 yrs working hard doing whatever was asked with a smile plus running the office that should’ve been handled by the $65K per year supervisor. Management is inept & let great employees go.
The dept supervisor is clueless but the GM’s cousin so he gets a pass. I’m bitter, I loved that job. It’s true they don’t have to offer any severance but c’mon. You cut our benefits immediately, at least give us like 15 days notice, I can’t afford a Dr visit and the meds my wife needs. The severance would be a bit better if they did that.
More than anything I’m riddled with anxiety about finding a new job in a post covid marketplace after working there most of my adult life. A few people mentioned corporate greed and I believe they’re right. Their probably laughing at us while buying new vacation homes with their bonuses. Best of luck to you all, try to network with your customers and other suppliers. Get some revenge if we can even find jobs after this. I’m so glad I found this forum. Seriously good luck men and women.

I worked at the Grand Prairie TX warehouse for manufacturing I was the main lead for the knee assembly program I was conspired on by my supervisor he used this covid 19 thing for a reason to put me on a furlough I still haven’t received a permanent termination letter I’m thinking about taking them to court if it happens he said I was chosen by the higher ups which we all know that is not true a lot of corrupt people work there it seems the kept the people who kiss butt if it wasn’t for me that company would have not been assembling knee suspensions I fell like I was used once it got up and running he didn’t have the guts to fire so yea he took advantage of this covid to get rid of me HR seems. Not to do anything about that guy very disrespectful not even supervisor material but then he is still there because of kissing butt we will all get through this in the end people seem to in worst situations than me though bless you all going through this

What a bunch of incompetent scumbags. Location in the Northeast not gonna get to specific is full off rasict management with no clue what they are doing (sale people are not upper management material). Scramble LKQ Scramble the pocket around you is crumbling. With the warm weather and mild winters more money for the greedy investors will be lost and big trust fund companies will pull their shares!

I still haven’t received my letter. I talked to another ISC that received his and it was $1062. He worked for LKQ for 5 years and really curious how they’re determining the dollar amount.

I will wait another day.

Post ID: @2Pgmw+125XQOw4

I received the letter Saturday. It doesn’t explain how they calculated the amount, equals nearly 8 weeks gross at my final salary. The 22% flat Fed tax (IRS taxes severance 22%, just found this out and it made me want to cry) plus state, SS & Medicare is going to whittle it down to around 5 weeks pay. Unsure if it eliminates unemployment in this state and about the non-compete terms so I need an attorney to look it over before signing.

Competitors are probably loving the LKQ purge. Repair shops aren’t getting what they order on time. They’re calling suppliers that are happy and eager to help. LKQ doesn’t seem to see or give a c-ap about the bigger picture. They’re beholden to shareholders and execs that have never cared about the drivers, ISCs, or reps who build relationships with the shops. MOST shop owners value those relationships as much as pricing if not more. They're not loyal to LKQ, a lot of them openly dislike the Corp. Good luck to you all. Keep in touch with your contacts and stay safe.

It’s Thursday and I still have not received the perm lay-off letter with severance offer. I was told May 1st I had until May 15th to return it. Seems like this wasnt completely planned out and done last minute due to the 1st quarter earnings report and doom and gloom about April down 40%. Sure hope the competition is making a plan to take over more of the market share LKQ haphazardly thought was theirs

Same here. NE region. Furloughed for what was supposed to be 60 days 3/26, they took my car, laptop and phone (Other locations let reps keep phones at least), forced to use PTO, unemployment, laid off by phone 5/1. Benefits cut, supervisor said they’re mailing papers w/Cobra and severance.
They furloughed the sales team 1st, a week later most drivers, ISCs, and tech reps.
No managers released in district yet that Ive heard. Shops are calling competitors b/c of delivery delays and unanswered calls.
Spent over 18 years w/company. I think severance is 1 week for every year of service. Cobra is about $500 per month for an individual on the middle tier plan. With a daughter it’s gonna be unaffordable. It sounds so cliche but this is corporate greed, Execs will probably get bonuses for this. LKQ possibly get some of the CARES act bailout too. Good luck all, I hope we all can come out of this with a vengeance.

What’s the formula for severance? Does anyone know? I still do not have letter from HR. The COBRA is going to be so high to keep insurance. To bad they didn’t get rid of the managers they’re top heavy with that are horrible.

Terrible for all the good employees involved. Remember the bigger they are the harder they fall. Greed doesn't even describe this group. Good luck to all involved. Hopefully this will get better for us soon. From a former employee of 13 years.

I worked as a FSC. They furloughed me for 60 days at the end of March along with most of the staff. Got a phone call May 1, not even 40 days in, from management saying they were laying me off permanently. Lost out on three weeks of unemployment because I told the state I’d be returning to work so they didn’t pay out the PTO weeks.

This dude had the balls to say the company is losing money. He also said that health insurance was cut off immediately and the layoff paperwork is in the mail. The furlough said lkq covered insurance for 60 days. I called HR and was told that is invalidated by the layoff release that I have not received, much less read. I hope the severance is at least a little fair, the manager claimed to not know how it’s calculated.

I have great relationships with nearly every client. Hoping there’s not a competition clause in the release... 20 years at LKQ, just bought a home, thought I’d retire with the company. Now I’m terrified about the future. Good luck to all of you affected by this greedy Corporation

16,750 or 1/3 of employees. This is on record from their last corporate meeting and it can be viewed online. Scary.

Post ID: @2Iyoc+125XQOw4

Does anyone know how many so far? It seems since LKQ had the earnings call on 4/30 and announced the 40% drop in revenue in April 20 vs 19 things accelerated with perm cutting those furloughed. Especially once they have to start paying out on our health benefits for 60 days.

I was furloughed in March; as of today my position (ISC) has been eliminated and I will receive a severance letter/offer from HR. I guess I should be happy that I’m eligible for rehire. The 60 days of benefits from the furlough offer is no longer valid and COBRA has to be paid by me. No idea on severance amount from local office and have to wait for letter

Elkhart.
Engineering staff are on 60 day furlough at end of March. Most of sales is off too. They made us burn up ALL our vacation 1st, then file unemployment!

Please remember all lkq family, better things will come along. Sometimes things happen to put us in a better place. Have faith and be safe. There are more important things in life than lkq. When this is over many opportunities will be available.

the layoffs/furloughs will continue until this pandemic subsides.. after that Lkq will use the pandemic excuse to keep the cuts valid. They are not the only game in town.. they just market insurance companies to write their parts. the parts are what they are.. but pricey.... when you think you are the biggest in the business.. make sure you are. you will tumble lkq.. look at your stock

Post ID: @2luor+125XQOw4

northeast had apx 45 sales reps in jan.. as of april 8 they had 11.. operations basically cut 30% of all people. didn't matter if you had 1 year or 22 years.. furloughs... yea.. i don't think all the 30% will be back.. a typical thinning of the herd from a very money hungry company

Post ID: @2kiqk+125XQOw4

Remember this as the nation comes back find a better opportunity they are out there. If LKQ took all the higher paid executives and cut their pay by 45% or 50% no bonus watch next year if any of them get bonuses? Company took from hard working before the Top. One door closes another opens!
