Since when is Sherwin paying people not to go to work? If one were to use SWs 8 week stay at home option, they lose all vacation/pto hrs and cant collect unemployment. Plus if the company decides to call them back sooner than the 8 week period, they face termination if they dont show up. Most of you that say we should be "grateful" to work and earn money should probably learn how to balance a checkbook and live within your means.

Being able to work is not the issue. Most of us at Sherwin are grateful to still be making money, but our customers are unreasonable and don’t follow the rules. They are being incredibly ignorant to the fact that we are putting ourselves at risk to keep their businesses going. No, you CANT come in.

What does everyone think about the furloughed employees getting a month paid while those of us still working get no hazard pay or any additional incentives. I'm grateful to have my job but I keep thinking that if they bring everyone back in a few months, that someone whom has worked here for 1 year will essentially get 27 days off paid compared to my 18 after 6 years of service.

People are complaining just to complain because they don’t have the answers or the solution. People get their heads chopped off in Iraq and blown up in Iran. D–g addicts overdose everyday. People rob, k–l, lie, cheat, and steal since the beginning of time.

Let’s just sit home and file for bankruptcy and lose everything we have including our home and see if we’re still complaining about having the opportunity to go to work or not.

How will you #stayathome or #quaranteam if you don’t have one?

If you’re so worried about getting sick at work, don’t go to work. If you still want to work, go to work and be grateful for the opportunity. How can you blame a company for giving you a choice and paying you not to go to work? I don’t get it. Who are the ones complaining about how the employees are being treated if they are the ones choosing to go in to support their families? Same thing with Amazon everyone is complaining about the work conditions but they continue to go to work. So show me a job where all I have to do is fill out an application and get paid for doing nothing.

Talk about being uneducated, not every site makes coatings for respirators or food cans, or hospitals. My site hasn't made a drop of anything "essential." We remain open because of corporate greed.

8 weeks unpaid! Show proof of your respirator coatings. We buy ours from 3M. We are still going to work but everyone's understandably worried. Sherwin has enough money to do the right thing but since they aren't, I wonder how much work force they'll lose when all this over! #dueces

Some of you people are so uneducated and work for this company. Our company makes coatings for respirators and also linings for canned food products. Every single person that works for Sherwin is essential. Sherwin offered 8 week voluntary layoff take it just be grateful Sherwin didn't shut the doors to all stores and plants. No stop complaining and get back to work.

Shut down now!!

As a semi truck driver for Sherwin Williams, I have delivered to many stores in states where the virus has already hit. Our management said, "if we don't feel comfortable being out here, we could use our vacation days". I believe that the overall safety of their employees should be priority # 1 and their profits priority #2. I understand that they have a business to operate, but is the health of your employees that have dedicated so much to the company least important!

Cep in Chicago has 3 confirmed cases. And they are still open and running. Not telling any distribution centers or stores.

I work at the plant in Lebanon, PA we were shut down for a day and a half and now reopened. We do NOT manufacture ANYTHING essential. There's a question as to whether or not our facility even has a waiver since they have failed to provide one or give an explanation to us employees. This company needs to stop with this "focus on safety" and "we care" nonsense. How big does Morikis' yacht have to be?

This is ridiculous! Paint is not an essential if you were stuck in the house for 1 weeks what would you prefer: 10 gallons of paint ? or a case of water and a case of canned food?

It isn't right that some non essential business were forced to close and others are not.
Sherwin TAG isn't a hardware store...just paint.

Health B4 profit

#non essentials should close.

My assistant manager showed up to work sick and I sent him home when he arrived when he disclosed he was sick. He was allowed to travel for his new assistant manager training a week and a half ago, came back in the middle of this pandemic unraveling. I worked with him all of last week including Saturday when he said he started feeling sick. I young kids and a husband that would be exposed if I contracted it from him. Since last Tuesday we have had over 100 transactions per day everyday and just now are limiting our contact via curbside. Imagine if he had it and imagine if I had it how many people we have had contact with. If Sherwin wanted to keep other businesses in business, as it would be deemed as essential then they should limit business only to businesses and not allow homeowner sales, as well as shut down on the weekends. Because I am down employees and we’re 3 times busier than normal I’m working 12 hrs days even though business is only open for 9 because I don’t have time to do anything else required of me to keep the store running and only have time after hours with no days off in sight. I’m thankful to still have a job but this seems so risky.

Had a driver from our DSC came down with a fever and slight cough. When he asked to turn around to go home (he was only a hour out) they gave him the run around. Still made him deliver his stores and pick up another load to come back with. Making it to where he couldn't get back in one day. During this he contacted his Dr. He is now on self quarantine. Dr doesn't think its anything to worry about. But still... SW is not taking this seriously. That's putting a whole bunch of people in jeopardy!!

That's great that they instituted cleaning policies, if you have time to do so! I work at Sherwin Williams in NW Indiana and business has been NON-STOP. The phone is incessantly ringing on all three lines, the cordless phones are dead by 2pm, and we are running the orders out to customers' cars and getting locked out of the store while trying to keep customers out. It's like Black Friday on crack! I'm really appreciating being on the front lines. Especially since paint is so crucial for survival in this period.

Portland purdy plant is remaining open even though they cant possibly comply with social distancing required for business to remain open. Over 100 workers in a tiny production plant at one time. How do we stop this? How can we report this? Who do we report it to?

Was told today by my manager that even if it gets so bad that the national guard sets up posts they will have to let us through because we are sw reps for lowes. Lowes is essential. disgusting.

Our governor required essential employers to check temperatures of all employees starting 3/20. Still not happening as of 3/23. Making excuses why they are not. They told us to self test. That is not the rule. Morikus sent out a email today that they will not shut down because it would be to damaging to the company " there pocket books ". #profitoverpeople

Paint is not essential.
We should be shutdown till it passes.
New Yotk, and other states waited too long to shut their states down many may of died needlessly.
Profits before employees lives.

Work full time at a plant that is in a state that has shelter in place. Don’t want to say much more because who knows. The order went into effect and all of us were wanting to know what was going on. Supervisor had no clue and was just as worried as the rest of us. Plus we are down half a crew on all shifts because they feel sick. Probably just taking advantage of not getting points but still what if they actually are sick? There isn’t anything saying you must get a drs note to come back. So they can just come back and infect everyone. Finally they texted us it’s “business as usual” and to show up to work. I don’t think making paint is essential to anything. If it is I’d like to know what but, I doubt anyone can give me a straight answer on that. There is probably more paint sitting around than they could sell in a year anyways so maybe just maybe they should put our lives over the all mighty buck.

They are not supplying PPE for the employees. There is no training on how to properly work around not getting infected.

It’s amazing that now 5 states are under “stay home” directives from their local government. In all 5 of these states, Sherwin-Williams TAG stores remain open and are considered “essential”. I have always loved working for this company, however paint is not essential. Safety and health are essential and are being disregarded by our Sherwin-Williams leadership. In addition, the many field reps in our Consumer Brands Group (LOWES, Ace, Menards, Walmart) business units are also being told to go to work. Why would these field reps be essential for business?!? Profits before people! I once thought better of my employer!

According to my manager (I work in the Midwest Division) we will not be closing...even in a state of emergency. Apparently we are considered "essential personnel". Essential to what, I don't understand. I guess they just expect us to hide behind our bottles of Spray Nine and hope and pray for the best.I really hope they reassess their priorities. If they continue to put profit over the safety of their employees and customers...they will have a mutiny on their hands.

The plant that has the infected employee is in Reno, Nevada. The plant just quarantined employees that were in direct contact with him, it’s ridiculous.

One of the Sherwin Williams sites has an infected employee. Our warehouse manager here in Waco is refusing to tell us which site is it. Isn’t transparency key especially regarding this?!

Sherwin Williams does not care if its employees contract this virus. They will give you 14 days to either get better or die, after that the days you miss count against your attendance. Operating hours are now 7-5 M-F and variable on the weekends. Goes to show how much they "care" for the health and safety of their employees and customers. They are not essential to the health and safety of the public and it will be on their hands if employees contract this virus.

Post ID: @efjn+13NoBE8b

They instituted cleaning policies. However, their solutions dont take into consideration pregnant employees who at risk of exposure to foreign contractors who have been out of the country recently or work all over areas known to have the virus. Apparently, if you're a SW employee you're gunna just risk it. However, Districts and HR need to reconsider employees who are at risk of exposure, such as their elderly employees, immunocompromised employees, and their pregnant ones if they really want to protect their clients AND their employees, they need to step up for the ones who need medical time off in order to maintain protection from the spread of this virus because making them hang out with spray nine causes breathing issues and chemical inhalant issues too.
