It’s not just the USA.
I work at Pratt & Whitney in the 24 hour help desk department. We are being forced to have a pay raise deferment until 2021, a 3 week unpaid furlough and a 10 percent pay cut effective June 1st. At this point in my life I am happy that I have a job. My situation is good compared to those that have lost jobs. I am hopeful that we will get through this pandemic and that the 30 million that are unemployed will have the opportunity to get back to their careers and livelihood.
I knew when Greg Hayes said on CNBC (after the merger with Raytheon closed) he wasn't going to take the bailout money, all hell was about to break loose. He took on an obscene amount of debt to acquire Raytheon and Rockwell Collins and now the chickens are coming home to roost with this black swan event.
The most demoralizing part about it is that us folks on the military side are being forced to suffer with pay cuts and furloughs even though it is the commercial side that is being decimated. Not to mention, the Raytheon folks aren't being forced to the same pay cuts / furloughs.
I'm done. I've been acticely searching for a new job and will continue to do so (although I highly doubt I will find one now).
