My father was terminated by the company after over 40 years of service. The company was looking for ways to fire him without paying a severance. The cause they found was poor performance over the past year, but there were no issues in performance for the first 39 years. They decided to terminate him shortly after all the overtime in the company dried out. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they asked my father to work over-time for over three months and he did so without any complaints. In addition, ironically, the company is exit manufacturing from his location in 2021/22; seems like they didn't want to pay him severance and find cause. BS company and the CEO should be held responsible. Lawsuit is already being filed vs. an unethical company

The company could of let him retire in good faith rather than terminate him. 40 years of service and get treated like sh–.
If he didn't take or get a severance I hope he didn't sign anything promising not to sue. Talk to a lawyer and see if anything was done illegally. But companies can hire and fire unless its illegal to do so (such as whistleblowing).
