Buy America? Slaton Foundry to Close

A project is in the works to close the Slaton Tx Foundry. This will result in a slew of lost jobs and lifeblood for the community and is targeting Q1 2024

All while Xylem is pushing a "Buy America" agenda that is considering BUYING a second domestic foundry to help diversify production.

What are your thoughts? Right hand not talking to the left.

The Slaton plant will be closed early November 2023. Roughly 30 employees will remain without employment. Foundry shut down has been in the works and pushed because a couple of corporate yahoo's can't understand the importance of having a domestic facility that can in fact produce a better casting than what they are already purchasing from 3rd world countries. It was a plan backed by mis-information from a young but overly ambitious machine shop employee that has been promoted to being a manager at another facility after SABOTAGING the slaton plant and putting the lubbock machine shop in a bind in a ploy to produce false metrics that made it seem as though he was "doing good business ".

My experience is it’s always the silver haired white male american flag waving executive that signs the final line to eliminate jobs.

I’ve seen companies move tech jobs to texas and wave the flag just to offshore those jobs overseas a few years later. It’s all a ruse.

Hey Bill i know Texas did us right but we can have this whole team in Mumbai for $3 an hour. High 5 on that one good buddy.
