A Beckley company has alerted the state that it plans to eliminate 279 coal mining jobs at 9 sites in five southern West Virginia counties in the first week of August.
Loot Press is reporting Civil LLC has notified the state of the permanent layoffs.
The layoffs are the latest in what’s been a tough couple of months for the coal industry in West Virginia. A number of companies have announced cuts including Core Natural Resources which recently announced plans to layoff 200 workers at the Itmann mine in Wyoming County.
