Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

is this normal??

I have been told that the firm will not be sharing any information regarding the # of layoffs, demotions, etc. And neither will divisions. In other words, no one will truly know the full scope of the impact. Is that typical? It angers me that we aren't being told the impact of these changes.

and while we're on this subject..anyone know how many jobs were 'shipped' to India in the past few years?

@bb Agreed. I lead 2 teams. 1 is now 60% contractors and the other is 50% contractors.

@Tiger GTFOH, this started years ago, so put your politics on the shelf.

@OP it’s normal in a republican run world.

@bk guarantee executive pay was also 100% untouched.

I take that back. It might go up.

@bh How do you know it was more than 150? Some areas were heavily affected other areas were 100% untouched.

We all received the email a couple months ago that there would be about 700 less home office roles, including the 550 some odd folks who took the VSP. So you think - OK, maybe 150 ish people will receive ISPs.

It was definitely more than 150 ISPs. That doesn’t even count the demotions that are starting to surface.

Why?
They lied. Plain and simple.

They downplayed the impact of this to make it seem more “human centered.”
They lied and have no obligation to share the final numbers because we’re a private organization.

Make no mistake about it - the Jones many of us knew is dead.
If you got ISP’d, you got a bad deal.
If you got demoted, you got a bad deal.
Even if you stay and had no impact to your salary grade, you’ll be left doing the work of those who departed, and the culture will continue to suffer.

Think of this too: If they “reimagined” once, what’s to stop them from doing it again?

@OP To give you an idea, my old team was 10 people "optimized". Replaced by 27 Indians. Ops division had around 400 people chopped over the last 2 years. So ops probably has close to 800 foreignern contractors. Tech just as bad now too.

@a3
looks like a lot of people are shocked about how political "donations" work. At the end of the day don't be poor or less than a billionaire. best of luck to my working class Missourians.

Depends how well they game the system. https://jobs.mo.gov/employer/warn and https://www.sunsethq.com/blog/warn-act-missouri it does apply to private companies but I'm sure with a few gold trinkets to Josh and Trump no biggie.

It’s normal. Especially for a private company.
