California Southern University has been a California university since 1978. However, they were acquired by Perdoceo in July 2023. Since then, there have been Draconian cuts. Many of the most experienced faculty are in California and they are all being laid off. Perdoceo required all employees to sign over rights of all intellectual property created during employment with Perdoceo, even if not on company time or with company equipment. Students can no longer choose professors for their classes. As a consequence of these business practices, most competent faculty is gone and the quality of education has been severely degraded.

I have started my doctoral project at CalSouthern and the cuts came mostly after finishing my coursework it seems. However, I am concerned as to whether the PsyD program will be able to survive such draconian cuts and what that will mean for the value of my degree.
