Nearly 1,100 mass layoffs were reported statewide in Illinois for March. The majority of these job cuts occurred in Cook County. Heartland Human Care Services announced 192 layoffs due to federal funding cuts. Saks Fifth Avenue also announced 101 cuts with its Michigan Avenue store closure. Several other companies across various industries also reported significant job reductions.
