It’s amazing to me how dismissive the ELT has been with our RTO mandate. We know from other companies that this initiative is often a huge failure and unfair burden on employees. Women are almost always impacted more than their male counterparts. My experience in HR has been one of the worst I’ve seen in my career. The communications are incredibly poor and borderline disrespectful. Since the initial announcement, I have not seen Suzan answer a question directly, but rather punt the heat and responsibility to her leadership team. She’s also stopped doing Q&A altogether in meetings she’s led. We are less than a week away with almost no questions answered, and our human capital division meeting today was so poor that it actually raised more questions than answers. Rather than discussing direct concerns with Monday looming, we spent time celebrating an arrogant partner’s records from 25 years ago and discussing employee discounts. We still have no word on assigned floors or desks. We still have no solutions for parking. Unbelievable.

Back and forth within this post. May the odds be ever in your favor y’all
@kz Probably the same people who stopped doing the surveys because it was "TOO MUCH COMPLAINING!!" ...Yeah, this 100% was posted from ELT or one of S. Mcdummies minions. Sad
@k8 , I hope whoever wrote this is ok. They seem really mad and taking their aggression out on this site. Have a blessed weekend poster.
@ks plus that description is specific enough to determine who it is. But they won’t look into it because it’s bs
@k8 So you were at wells and schwab, have been here 4 years, and are low level, but still love to bootlick the ELT ghouls and embrace being micro managed? You're either lying and another one of the ELT flunkies trolling the site, or you are a severe head case. The type of person who gets their pay and benefits cut during record growth and still thinks everything is great. A simp for the very people who hate you is a special kind of stupid.
@k8 Oh shut up susan, nobody is believing your stupid a-s larp on this board.
As a low level employee who has been here for 4 years in STL. Why don't you all get back to work and do your jobs. What is on this site is what the people sitting around me complain about all day. What does that complaining do? Absolutely nothing! I was at Wells and Schwab, they are the same, if not way worse. Get over yourselves and stop harping on the old days. You sound like the loser 40 year old guy who longs for the days he was the high school football star but yet has done nothing to build a productive life as an adult.
@f8 it’s harder in Wells, specially if you are in tech, Stl area and not willing to move. Recently everything is in Charlotte, AZ, Dallas or India for Wells. Personally I am feeling STL is running out of financial firms.
@OP you being in hc is funny because all of sm's leadership team is bad. sm is not a good leader but pp won't get rid of her because she is not a good leader and they just keep the grift going. years ago we used to call it where all the people who can't cut it with a real job go and they keep proving it. what is "colleague experience" when no one even likes the place, useless training after training. hc it's the biggest train wreck in the firm and we are supposed to go to them for help? they can't even help themselves.
It's not tone deafness, they're not listening for a tone at all. They are too arrogant to consider it isn't working or too focused on some "big brain" ulterior motives to bother.
@cn I came from wells about four years ago when they went RTO. EDJ is worse than wells now… I’ve been thinking about going back to Wells.
@e7 unfortunately it will have to take some major headline type of event or scandal that rocks the boat pretty badly before the sheocracy gives up their power. There are a lot of angry people here right now and people who go laid off who could potentially blow the lid off on something. Or, someone close to her who is next in line might push her out to get power now instead of waiting it out. Keep all eyes on DC these next few months.
@aq touchy subject for the field… those you work with regularly are being offshored. So, good luck!
So, there might be a shortage of parking and desks? What next? "The network will be down for a few hours today due to increased volumes. Don't worry, our tech team over in india is working on a work around."...Next week will be terrible for most people, but it also might be the biggest example of clown world leadership failing in real time. Can't wait for the photo op stooges to walk around and get propaganda pics for linkedin.
@aq good luck with that. There is no consistency and never will be. Plus everyone will be pi---d off having to go in office, people will be late for shifts, etc. Being in person also won’t affect training at all. Training has always been virtual even way before Covid. It’s even worse because training timelines are being cut in half, people are having to cram in multiple topics without the depth of knowledge and all that good stuff. It’s an absolute sh-tshow.
It’s literally insane. Especially when HO positions are posted on LinkedIn stating internal candidates can keep their HBA status. Then why bring people back in? Seems like a huge lawsuit waiting to happen. Add that on top of people wanting their own cube and being told there is not enough space for assigned cubes….how do you not have space for everyone to work? Are they supposed to sit on the floor? Complete insanity and gross mismanagement 😡
@OP Closing the extra parking lot on the first day of RTO is cruel. Leasing the 270 building knowing some people would be relieved to simply have a cubicle of their own, for some consistency and to put up a family photo, is cruel.
Part of me is excited for the show next week and to watch the collapse over the next year. A bigger part is sad for the Jones family. I can't believe Ted/Pat left their enormous wealth to conservation and the employees who shared in the work, just to have ELT loot it for extra wealth they don't need. Ted should have brought in his sister like his dad wanted and kept it a family owned business.
Fortunately karma is undefeated and when bad things come to ELT, they'll know they've earned it.
Does anyone have an idea of what it would take to remove PP and her not-so-qualified "girl power" leaders from this place? Maybe a no confidence vote? Talk to any associate in the home office or any advisor at a recognition conference, she's not doing a great job and not many people trust her ability to lead this firm. Yet she still walks around Manchester with that fake smile
ELT Leaders love to throw around the word “accountability”, yet failures like Suzan are allowed to remain in crucial roles. And I know for a fact that her peers know she is a fake - it’s Penny that has kept poor leaders like her around her. Add this to the list of the many things that undermine her credibility and legacy.
SM can’t even lead RTO in her own group - let alone for the entire firm. Capable leaders who actually would speak up are gone. She spins her team constantly and has a nothing-burger of a track record (see a parallel thread on project keystone) - let alone the fact they had to hire consultants to run layoffs for reimagined.
Why anyone in HR would be surprised by yet another mess created by this fool is beyond me.
@cn So if it was 2022 or any time before I would says Wells had a terrible reputation for how they treated their people, but they paid more. So that was the trade off. EDJ has always had its issues, but there was always the trade off of having remote work, flexibility with hours, work life emphasis, good people to work around, no layoffs, no outsourcing to india, and an overall feeling that we were going to be different than the cut throat slash and burn guys on wall street. That is ALL gone now. Now we just have leadership that is actively at war with the whole company coupled with sh---y pay and toxic AF culture at home office because of ELT. These clowns are destroying the company in record time and nobody seems to be speaking up about it in pennys inner circle. PP also shares this blame due to her bringing in these monsters to "fix" things. Almost as if she has always had an axe to grind with how the company was.
Reading all these comments making me rethink of my decision of joining EDJ. Coming from wells things looks pretty much the same!!
@OP Suzan should fired and sued. Absolutely there for the title and pay with no accountability.
@aq that’s so cute that you think you’re being serviced by associates actually in StL or Tempe home offices!!! Hahahahaha
SMD and the rest of ELT don’t care if you are inconvenienced by RTO. They don’t even think about you. The old Jones ways are dust blowing in the wind around Ted’s grave. Old ideas about honor, integrity and respect left when Jim Weddle retired. Penny and her ELT cronies have disrupted the firm, eliminated anyone who disagreed or offered up feedback on their bad decisions. “Tone Deaf” is not the right adjective. They don’t even hate you. They simply don’t think about you at all. They are monsters and villains who have betrayed Ted’s memory and turned their back on everything that made the firm great. All the great leaders I loved are gone, along with my friends who took the VSP. I don’t care about the firm anymore but I need a paycheck. I do my job and that’s it. I’ll never volunteer for another thing. I’ll ’clock in’ for my 8 hours and depart. It’s just a job. If they don’t care, I don’t care. And it’s such a shame.
@b4 how in the world can you compare Maryland Heights and Des Peres? Have you been downtown at all?
@aq unfortunately, all you're going to get is contact reduction AI.. HO isn't what it used to be. It's all about encouraging self-help instead of service associate help.. and the service you get is in the form of contractors just trying to keep up with an unrealistic training schedule.. and no skin in the game, so to say. good luck out there!
@as yeah because Maryland heights is such a utopia and not a millennial hellscape eyeroll
@aq Have you ever been to home office in the last couple years? The issues with training has nothing to with being in a cubical 8hr a day vs being at home. Some the best associates we have are HBAs with years under their belts. You think everything will just turn to magic once service and ops sit in a home office 4 days a week instead of 3 days? Come on. The issue is a top down failure from leadership. Horrible technology they refuse to fix, zero accountability from GP leadership who constantly are re-orging for no reason which leads to training gaps, below market pay that doesnt bring in quality talent or retain it, office politics ramped up to 11/10, micro management, threats of layoffs/outsourcing looming over our heads. Add all that up and have a demoralized home office who is not going to go above and beyond for branches who also cr-p on them every time the phone rings. Again, as others have said and sourced on this board, RTO mandates always reduce productivity, reduce morale, and eventually make everything worse across the board.
I’m an outsider but from reading these messages- the one and only advantage I see in EDJ is unlike other banks, it is not located in the ghetto that is downtown St. Louis.
@ag Cool. Once again EDJ follows all the bad habits of our competitors while refusing to bump pay up. We literally bring nothing to the table now to bring in new ta!ent. The p!ace is being gutted and run like a dystopian sh\thole. Seriously, what is the end goal with all this BS? What are they hiding?
I know this is a touchy subject for a lot of people but for those of us in the field, it’s time. We need some consistency in training and tasks to help support us.
@ag No. There are not assigned seats for RTO with EDJ. Employees can request an assigned seat using Accommodations in HR if they wish.
Just like Wells, EDJ will be next with eliminating HBA employees as well. I say by 2028, HBA is no longer.
Why am I not surprised? The new RTO next week will be another cluster ufck brought to you by the sociopaths of ELT and PP. I'm hearing that across the board higher up leadership has refused to hear any feedback from the ground level leaders and associates. We have reached peak toxic levels and these ghouls want to hide in their corner offices pretending everything is fine. Mark my words, next week will be a disorganized sh+tshow that will have associates packing up early and heading home. Productivity will be in the toilet by week 2. Get ready to hold yet another "L" , penny.
We have 4 days a week RTO at wells and required to be in office for 8 hours on those 4 days - they track our badge in and badge out and are working on pilots to track our usage activity. We also have ‘neighborhood’ open seating and are not allowed to reserve desks.
Is Ed Jones going to have assigned seats?
@OP - its because ELT does not care about anyone doing the work. Pure and simple. In their eyes, we are all a necessary evil to keep the firm working so they can keep their comfortable 7 and 8 figure incomes while the rest of us keep our below-market pay while we're trapped because the job market su-ks.
It was more telling than anything when Human Resources was rebranded to Human Capital. We aren't people anymore... haven't been for several years. To all of the Sr Leaders in the firm, we are all expendable numbers on a spreadsheet, mere tools to make the machine move along.
I miss the days of Jim Weddle, John Beuerline, Tom Migneron, Norm Eaker, etc...
