Just got a RTO related email outlining ground rules which included packing up all of your stuff if you plan to be in meetings for an extended period of time. It's bad enough not to have a permanent desk, but being expected to vacate a desk during the business day is beyond ridiculous. If you want me in the office, I need an actual space to work.

@es you aren’t entirely wrong about the anxiety part, but encouraging others to leverage it to avoid RTO diminishes the process for those of us that actually deal with it.
I’ve worked with a therapist for several years and am on anxiety meds… not that this is a badge of honor but getting so lost in your own head because of drive by’s, incessant chatter, interruptions, and not having any walls at your desk to provide even a modicum of privacy is absolutely miserable. Despite this, I STILL try and get in at least 2 days a week (my accommodation is fairly liberal and leaves the in/out of office for me to decide).
“Claiming” to have anxiety just to avoid going in the office makes the process of obtaining or maintaining an accommodation that much more difficult.
For the record, I despise ELT and what they’ve done to the firm and the people, and believe that RTO is an absolute farce along side the firing of American workers to replace them 3x the number of Indian workers who don’t give a damn about the place, the work or the clients.
If you don’t actually deal with anxiety issues, please don’t pretend to just to stick it to the ELT.
@bm I'm not an FA, but I speak off the record with a few of them frequently through various social events. 2 of them are level 10s and they are more annoyed at GPs at home office coming up with lofty ideas to make a name for themselves but the ideas are out of touch pipe dreams out in the field (sound familiar?). The hard push now for high net worth everything VS before when it was about getting as many new people in the pipeline as possible, FAs included. Branch sharing has had mixed reviews. Some are okay with it, some absolutely hate it. Senior BOAs being pushed out while some new young job hopper who is easy on the eyes takes over for 2-3 FAs and is setup for failure. PP, AM, DC are short sighted mo--ns of the highest order. They are hated and laughed at by everybody here. Some are saying our entire business model is Effed and it's too late to fix it, so now we are slashing and burning labor costs so we can go public in 2-3 years. LP offer wont be enough cash to keep the grift going. Dont even get me started with Susan Mcdummy. Absolute clown of a human
I agree. This is all stupid as F and EDJ ELT proving their brainless ignorance is prominent.
If you really want your own desk, talk to your doctor about it if there is an issue that requires you to need one. Maybe an issue has come up since RTO, like extreme anxiety not having a desk ;) accommodations will give you a form to have your doctor complete. Ask for what you want to prevent your anxiety, spell it out “window seat, on end, with little people around” etc… the doctor will send it in and then you can have a permanent desk.
I didn’t matter. Another amazing organization had the gain. So sad and pathetic. happy I have their playbook to leverage in another way. Don’t work here and if do, prepare yourself for a better place.
Possible Solution to this Dilemma:
Block off your calendar for the entire day, for each day you RTO.
Be sure to keep the meetings contents/title on "private" so less chance of anyone knowing any deets about why your calendar's so full every day...lol.
If you're "in meetings" all day, and you've been instructed in writing via official professional protocol to "pack up all of your stuff and vacate your desk" when in meetings for extended periods of time, then the only logical alternative would be to then work from a reserved conference room, private call space, or to just sit in your car with your work laptop, while sipping lattes all during your RTO days!
But seriously:
They insist you be in the office, but under reasonable circumstances (your job's need for you to be regularly attending meetings) they aren't reasonably providing you with a desk on a consistent basis, to do your work. That's not only unreasonable and inhumane, it's illegal. Try working on this: a formal complaint to OSHA, and cc HR.

These people are getting ridiculously bold and brazen, in how they're trying to push people out. Cheapa$$ creeps want you to get so frustrated with their BS that you quit, rather than pay to lay you off.
@aw what are the new FA guide? I'm genuinely curious. btw- I'm one of the 1500...
I seriously hate these people so much. I talk to a LOT of people around st louis in various social circles (wont go into details of why). Our reputation is completely trashed here. ELT has turned this place into a toxic sh-thole for not only home office, but FAs now too with their insane new guidlines. You think it was an accident that we bled out almost 1500 FAs last year? Our competition isnt losing FAs at this high of a rate, so spare me the BS talking points of it being aging boomers who are leaving. PP has been nothing short of a complete and utter disaster for edward jones. Literally ki-ling this firm in real time while the d-mb AF general partners applaud the destruction because they think their gravy train will continue as is. Useful id--ts.
This ELT is actively finding new ways to make life awful for us. I hate them so much.
“You Matter” is the boldest lie they can say.
