Thread regarding Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center layoffs

Entire housekeeping staff has been laid off

We don't know why but as of june 2023 all housekeepers in hospital will have to reapply for thier jobs with a company called HHS after prominence ended thier positions which came without warning immediately and they have option to reapply by July 31st2023 through the new company. Also, the education department employees were laid off as well as discharge lounge employees. 2 entire floors have closed. This comes after the recent sudden labor and delivery related departments closed late last year. These 2 entire floors (oncology and surgical) have now been combined with medical department on 1 floor...for a constant turnover of patients in about 44 rooms. Several kitchen staff were laid off as well and it is unknown but suspected to be a contributing factor to poor food options quality for patients...being #2 complaints from patients after poor communication . Several of the best Employees are going part time or leaving due to no communication from cfo or ceo as to why these sudden drastic changes. Employees that remain feel a sense of loss of trust for future employment and they want thier own floors back. They also want labor and delivery to re open. Shortages in staffing is affecting the loyalty and quality of care from the community... patients...specifically those who pay private. Rumors are spreading that it is planned to turn the hospital into a long term care and mental health focused hospital with mostly outpatient type departments the lack of an effective communication system within the hospital is the problem. Nurses are currently being rotated and cancelled to what appears to be for the purpose of not accruing more than 8 hours of any paid leave time therefore no requested paid time off.

Prominence doesn't have anything to do with the management of St. Mary's Medical Center or terminating housekeeping employee's roles. The hospital and Atrio Health made those decisions. Awful situation Atrio has put this community in. Many people losing jobs during a time where there is so much economic uncertainty.
