Thread regarding University of Idaho layoffs

(NY Times) University of Phoenix becomes a punchline on Saturday Night Live

“Uh, yes, hello,” Kenan Thompson, who in the meantime has appeared without explanation beside the other presidents, says. “I am the president of the University of Phoenix online, and I’m willing to say yes to anything.” (He never identifies himself.)

Where on earth did that come from? Who knows? For the record, no one from the University of Phoenix testified at the hearing. This was completely out of left field. But Thompson did at least provide some laughs. His answer was the first of a few shots at the online school based in Phoenix.

“See? See?” Troast’s Stefanik says. “A real president of a real university.”

“That’s actually our school motto — U of P, we are a real university,” Thompson says.

Asked if he will “promise to eliminate all antisemitism from your campus,” Thompson gets the best line of the sketch.

“Well … my campus is the internet, so antisemitism is kind of our most popular major,” Thompson says. “And our mascot is po-n.”

Finally, when asked if the University of Phoenix will offer a course on how antisemitism is wrong, Thompson takes one last shot at the school: “Lady, we’ll offer a course on anything. The only mandatory courses we have are how to log into the University of Phoenix online and how to set up autopay.”

If you want to get serious, a million or so University of Phoenix alumni owe an estimated $14B-$35B. And there are more than 70,000 Borrower Defense fraud claims against the school. This is what the University of Idaho will have to deal with.

Who cares. There are so many other geopolitical issues that are worth talking about that don't get much of an attention nor any resolutions. Such as America's Debt crisis. Did you know you owe $200,000 in taxes? Every individual living on USA property owns that much debt due to USA's trillions of dollars of debt accumulation. Then there is the ever growing China issue. And the Russia, and the North Korea, and don't forget the Iranians and so many others against USA. What is this world coming to? Droughts, floods, extreme heat, extreme cold, poor getting poorer, rich getting richer. High inflation, high credit card debt, housing market stuck, 1.5 Trillion in corporate debt due, America kids addicted to video games instead of education, job losses due to artificial intelligence, etc. etc. etc.
