I found the culture here to be quite terrible. Is it common for colleagues on the same team to backstab each other and promote people not based on the merit of the work, but on wether or not you "vibe" with the team?
What's the culture in Austin, TX like? Does this company just keep hiring NCG's because people are getting layed off left and right.
There is no such thing as a dream job. With a company as large as AMAT, with so many departments, you'll find every situation to be different. The reality is that they expect employees to be productive and hold them accountable for the quality of the work they're there for.
Interview scenario:
Sold a widget for $10;
COGS was $1
Question: Tell me what accounts were impacted by selling 1 widget for $10 with a COGS of $1. List out all the T accounts.
This was for a Sr. Financial Analyst role in California.
What were the questions?
I found they ask odd/strange questions to the finance candidates…why is that?

No senior leaders senses it bc they’re the problem for the bad culture!

It’s all departments. I speak for the whole company :)

Most companies give you bonus and stock options not just AMAT

An option is to go for a walk to chit chat, lunch time break, or pass messages in the bathroom stalls?
The good thing is we get a bonus and annual stock allotment.
I only worked here for a short period of time anyways, lots of big egos who work at this place.
Austin culture here is just as bad. You’re being watched 24/7 and your boss will watch every move you make bc the space is open with no offices. Chit chatting just to ask a coworker if they had a good weekend is being frowned upon bc we’re not allowed to chat. They work us like slaves!
