Thread regarding TransUnion layoffs

No job security

I don't care if there are more layoffs or not. The fact that we can never know if it's over and always have to expect layoffs is enough to tell me that this is no longer a place I want to work. Job security is not a guarantee anywhere, but it's got to be better than this. I'm done.

There’s no job security anywhere but it sure su-ks when your US job is going to foreign countries. Some of the articles we ignored (easily found in a search) on how high CC is about the Costa Rica workforce is sickening. If ever there was a company that thinks US workers aren’t worth it, it’s TU and they’ve made it pretty public.

Change is inevitable, all. I think what we learned through covid is - work / life balance matters and is achievable. The only people losing sleep over their job / work should have titles that start with E and above. No one owes us any thing - but work where your work matters to moving things forward, where you can feel good generally at the end of the week. All this "change" going on is a preparation for something later for the company. 5 years from now, mark this comment and see what the name of the company is. There's good work out there - best to you all for finding the right fit.

Expect quarterly layoffs as the intent is to offshore as many resources as possible.

To get the math right - 1,000 of the 300 people laid off on 2/2 were in the Lithuania office that closed down. The rest of the 300 came from other parts of the business, many of whom were in the US (including me). This latest round is in addition to the original 1300 people, but it lines up with the investment call where CC said that they would be moving more positions to GCCC locations.

Why would anyone not believe what CC and the rest of the clowns told them? If they think they can replace ANYONE "on-shore", they are going to within the next 21/22 months. Believe them and work on you next opportunity. They are out there. TU is FAR from the pinnacle of employers, and its best days are long gone. Be happy they provided any kind of warning and, for those who apply, somewhat decent severance packages. Take your future into your own hands. In the meantime, treat them and your role as they view you: a temporary and necessary evil. Give them as much as you feel they deserve or want. Because no matter how much blood, sweat, and tears you put into the company from here on out, it won't change the fact that you are viewed as expendable and a business expense to be reduced. There is no long-term future here. Reviews, possible promotions, and potential (nominal) raises be dammed. Use them just as they are using you: to get the enterprise into a position that they are comfortable moving on from you.

It’s a roller coaster! You have to be stressed out on managing the overload of work and now if you will even have a job. We will all have PTSD!

I unfortunately agree. Although it doesn't matter since I just had my call and I am outa here. But yeah, after being sidelined like this a 2nd time.. Zero confidence going forward with TU.

They're definitely not over. It looks like they've only laid off about 300 people each round so far but the news says they are laying off 1300 people in total. So we are 600-700 people in so far. I'm guessing we will have 2 more rounds of layoffs this year.
