Thread regarding CompuCom Systems layoffs

Watlmart ditching CompuCom. Layoffs coming

Walmart apparently has notified CompuCom they are not going to retain them for the services that CompuCom still provides to Walmart, namely server and software support. This almost guarantees layoffs are coming to the company. I want outsiders to know this is the result of piss poor management and unrealistic deadlines set by the contract negotiators. I've been dispatched to work tickets three hours away on priority call notice... with a deadline to troubleshoot and rectify the issue at hand of two hours. How intelligent is that? What this translates to is the deadline is past prior to even arriving on site. CompuCom's "Walmart critical team" is about the most incompetent group of "managers" I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They would just call technicians and constantly hammer for updates on trouble tickets versus read the information that was already in the Clearvision system (which the techs took the time to type up).

CompuCom needs to majorly clean up its act or it's not going to survive. I cant get out of there fast enough.

Been gone now 6 years. I see nothing changed. Promise the world to prospective clients and then when you get the business don't spend the money to keep you promises. If you take pride in doing a professional job Compucom is not a place to be

It's a sinking ship! Walmart contract was doomed from the start.

Call volume has decreased throughout all areas and major accounts prior to Walmart.

Who's fixing all the CPU's and other devices at previous accounts? CPU's don't repair themselves, so someone is doing it but who?

Compucom has screwed previous money making accounts and now we are paying for it by our job loss. Ask any former Getronics techs, they were busy and productive until being merged into Compucom. Now, they too are wondering what did this company do to their previous accounts?

Anyone in the field service for Compucom should actively start looking for new jobs as the outlook here is bad and only about to get worse.

Another theory is techs that were once full time associates with benefits will be switched to 1099 contractors or just let go so they can bring in the recent kids out of tech school and pay them below wages currently in force.

Folks, it's just a matter of time before it happens.... prepare now or be blindsided and standing in the unemployment line (that's if compucrap will allow you to collect) looking for work while trying to keep the roof over your head.

Company need to Pay according to the Market, Techs are not Cheap, Managers stop Micromanagement ,Allow Techs to do their job right, do not try to control their Time.

I've been with them for 5 years about 3 years in the cut our pay, than I had a manger change. still not to bad to work for beside no pay raise. Once the Photosmart program ended I've had 4 different bosses and none of them will gives a shit about you they just worry about numbers. Will be looking for a new job.

The company is being sold and no one even mentioned that, maybe Walmart is wiser than we know and doesn't want anything to do with the new owners.

You are right about that, I was on a call and the part is expected to take up to 3 days to arrive, leaving 3 departments without registers. They blame Cisco, but they kept me on site trouble shooting for 2 more hours after I told them the equipment was dead and had to be replaced. The biggest problem is the tech support system and Walmart making access to equipment a nightmare.
