Thread regarding Emory University layoffs

Emory University - NOT a good place to work!

I lost my job with Emory University because the director of the place where I worked didn't like me. I found out after I accepted the job there that nobody was able to stay in that position long because of her. It used to be a good place to work, but not anymore. They used to have great benefits, and they don't anymore. Their rates are very high. I'm happier now at my current place of employment. My current place of employment has great benefits; much better than Emory has to offer. I'm so happy I don't have to worry about their crap anymore! Emory also has a way to lay off somebody that they know is going to retire soon that works in their staff. After you have worked there for a certain amount of years they find a way to let you go so they won't have to pay for your retirement. That's b.s. I wouldn't advise my worst enemy to work for them!

I was laid off there and I can tell you that you are absolutely correct! They no longer value employees there and they really do think they have the best gig in town. They never care about how long an employee will last, in fact, they prefer it to be a revolving door. They advertise a pension, but unless you are a Phd, OD, JD or MD, you may never see it!
