I left Jabil mid year and I could'nt have been more relieved to get out of such a top heavy , self entitled, relationship based company. I saw the layoffs coming and have heard of another coming in March time frame. With all the "world wide " corporation talk you'd think they had a monopoly . Unfortunately with third party companies loosing value in the industry and the lack of employee value this company has not seen those worst yet. In fact , i believe if corporate was not based here they would'nt even have manufacturing here in St. Petersburg. The real pity is there are many outstanding employees who are lost in the shuffle by the almost god like persona put off by the management. With workcell who dont complete proper readiness and telling customers...were good to go then having an abundance of defect returns i can see why they are not performing to potential. Jabil , look at the top and find your problems. The lower levels will excel and bring you into the 21st century of production........
Jabil likes to boost about being a "employee, family friendly company', however, do not be fooled. I was with Jabil for two years, and it is crazy the back stabbing you see. The Legal department has the biggest click in the company and the most waste. Three legal assistants that the attorneys don't even use. The new GC Bobby Katz came in and his thought was to reduce reduce reduce, EVEN after saying you were safe. Unless you are in the click, DON'T WORK FOR THIS COMPANY! Terrible!
No escape, murder rape was my motto working at the Big J. Worked 18 long and hard years at the company. In the end i was nothing but an old piece of hardware ready to be recycled. Certain people can move around to save their jobs. Others have no way out and suffer long hours with no relief insight. If you are lucky enough to get a severance package - take it and run. If not, they will burn you up until you drop dead.
This time of year it is not uncommon to be laid off by Jabil in the St. Pete corporate office. The BOD and company officers like to thin the payroll to ensure their annual bonuses right before staged company furlong in December. By laying off locally, Jabil can save $15-20 million very quickly. It is widely known in St Pete, that the savings goes right into funding the officers annual bonuses. You're either in club and protected or tossed out with little regard to your professional and personal well being. Most of their "best employer awards" are bought and paid for to make the company look good to potential employees, shareholders and the Tampa Bay Area. Where are the ethics? Long gone at Jabil!
Last 3 weeks of the quarter worked like a dog 80 hrs a week, come the 3Rd week in September was told 20% layoff and I'm out the door, I enjoyed working at Jabil however for the short time I was there now I wish I never heard of the place, so disappointed!!!
Doing fine after stomping out long term contributors. Typical. Jabil culture died a few years ago...not even a shadow of its old self. Political correctness and the entitlement gen now run the show. Too bad really. Work hard, play hard was the motto. Now it's work hard...well as long as it's between 10-4 and I get my hour lunch cuz if my blood sugar drops well I get cranky and that's just not fair to me.
Did far more with far less. But it's now just a typical corporation standing on the bodies that came before. Oh well.....
Jabil executives hand selected people they wanted to get rid of in order to make numbers look better. Across the company, many tenured people lost jobs to newcomers. Maybe a little better fiscal responsibility at the top could have saved jobs and not ruined hardworking people's lives.
Corporate IT group cut 10% of their staff today ~ 50 people let go.
layoffs today many people let go from all divisions
This place crazyyyyyyyyy!!!! They should be laying off most of the directors that do not do anything. Mid level managers are useless as a they just get rotated into different positions if they can't due their current positions. Project managers are the ones that cause delays in projects. Many individuals are put in positions that have no knowledge on how to do their tasks.
strong layoff rumors. mid september. sizable cut in IT and across Jabil in general. Not the best of companies and industry to be in.
Layoffs are happening right now. Right now it is restricted to the manufacturing sites but corporate will be next over the next few months. By mid-end of September layoffs will be done
I got laid off from Jabil back in January while working in the St. Pete area. I wouldn't be surprised if they have another round of layoffs if it hasn't happened already. A new VP stepped into office and changed the management structure. The new management was supposedly against the idea of having an in-house test development team when they could outsource the work to 3rd party companies. They figure that outsourcing will cut development times and be cheaper overall. As I had only worked for Jabil 6 months when I got laid off, I can honestly say I will never work for the aerospace and defense industry again. My gut feeling was correct about A&D, it is a horrible industry to work in. I was at the lowest rung of the totem pole so I was the first of my team to get cut, according to the report they sent me.
Layoffs in September
We are doing fine, we are expanding in Florida and globally
