Thread regarding ECMC layoffs

Not the same company. If you work at ECMC please weigh in.

Like @KILAvQR-3sri below, I work at ECMC. The place is not the same. Senior leaders are bickering. Org is being run by a committee who don't like or respect each other. The personality of the company is gone. Hardest working executives there have been marginalized. Zenith could work but not with all the dysfunction. The guy running Zenith won't commit to more than a year. All senior management talks about is getting more loans handed to them from the Department of Education. No one wants to do the hard work. A strong company is in serious decline. It's sad.

No one leaves ECMC. Benefits are too good. People are proud of seizing tax refunds and garnishing wages from student loan borrowers.

Whiny employees: why are are surprised about your management? If they were of high quality they would be working somewhere else. you work for a company that makes its money collecting from defaulted borrowers that you should have prevented from defaulting. and you are successful at collecting because the debt never goes away until you die or pay it off. not exactly rocket science.

go get a real job.

I would say the biggest change is that the personality of the place is gone. Boyle and Hawn were both outgoing and personable. Hawn called everyone by name. Thanked people. Smiled when he saw you. All that is gone. Even Dan Fischer seems less approachable. We are being taken over by I.T. and H.R. Makes no sense how many people we have in those departments. It's time for me to move on nondoubt about it.

What exactly does a student loan guarantor guarantee? Seems like a relic from the distant past. Time to go away.

I've not seen the bickering but I know that my executive leader can't stand to be around some of the others. this used to be a great place to work. event tho we are basically a collections company i always felt good about about what we did. maybe it was just the way hawn made us all feel. i know we are still doing good but it doesn't feel the same. i think we know what we all need to do. the job market is strong. hawn left. so can we.

Definitely not the same place. The heart and soul is gone. I was never a big D--k Boyle fan, but I would even take him back. Dave Hawn was awesome. He cared about people and it showed. Today's leaders seem to care mostly about themselves. I used to love coming to work. No more.

This would get more comments on Zenith page. Someone should post it there.

It's all about the money not about the students. Wow, sounds just like Zenith now.

Totally different vibe these days. The new office space is really nice but the sense of family we used to have is gone.

Agree completely. Feel especially bad for Heidi. Disappointing that our whole strategy is built on begging DOE for more loans.
