Thread regarding NRG Energy Inc. layoffs

Laying off people a year before retirement

From what I hear , there's a lot of guys 54 years getting cut . At 55 you get a retirement with medical .

Saw this posted in another thread, is this true? Has NRG really stooped this low, to rob people of their benefits a YEAR before they are entitled to them? This truly makes me sick...

There's no retirement at 55 with medical, at least not in NRG Corporate or Reliant. Maybe some of the unions have such a contract?

There's been rumors of a round two next year . I guess this is depending on what the company looks like by then .

At the end of the day , this is why Millieniels are the way they are . This is why workers don't stay at one company any more . The days of a good wage with good benefits for somebody right out of high school are long gone like the drive in movie . All you can do is wish them luck until the masses get fed up .

corporations want profits, ceo wants big payday, institutional investors want gains and dividends. corporations would prefer all the workers were contract workers and thus void of any commitments to the workers, staff up or down at will, no health benefits, no payments to any kind of employee savings, nothing, more money for mr big. pensions went away, why not the permanent employee.

if true this is despicable. this type of behavior is reminiscent of the old Enron, that was a crooked outfit. one would expect such behavior from a company such as that, but not nrg. if true, that puts them in a whole new league. but of course companies will make dxxn sure they lawyer up and cover their axx, and then have the poor victim sign some crxp document with no representation while HR is sitting there with a wall of lawyers behind them ready to wipe HR axx.

If it's true you can bet NRG isn't saying . They'll call it , just business , and move along counting the money they saved .
