My friend is working for the company and he's very concerned that job cuts might be coming and that he may lose his job. He works in Charlotte.

I heard the layoffs will happen today or tomorrow. Does anyone have an idea of how many and what locations?
I work at a Duke Nclear Plant and today, after the voluntary packages were accepted and approved, an email came out that those who will receive the "involuntary" severance packages would be announced by the end of the week. Those affected will be basically done when told......no December 31st as we were made to believe. All over the plant today, people in many departments were packing up their desks, including myself, in anticipation of what's to come tomorrow or Thursday.
Any rumors of oil filled equipment
Safety will be suffering, they are cutting 20% of the safety department and doing away with outside contracted safety personnel. Announced last Wednesday
Duke Energy is eliminating a THIRD of their nuclear engineering organization across the company by year end 2018. Executive stock options don't grow if the dividend does not grow. Electricity demand is flat. Solar, wind and gas are either subsidized or cheap. Only one option left to support the stock price: cut labor to the bone. So that's what they're doing. They'll try to keep the nuclear plants running this way until it either works, safety suffers and the NRC steps in to shut down nuclear plants, or it's still not enough cost savings and they'll have to shut down some of the nuclear plants anyway.
Anybody heard any news about the rumored Nuclear Group layoffs ?
Just heard they’re going to be offering voluntary buyouts to some in Nuclear who have at least 10 years of service with Duke. They will be announcing it around 10am this morning
