I have no info on layoffs but I can tell you that there is a certain level of nepotism here at General Cable - the executives should look into this as it hurts company culture and talented employees leave as they are not treated based on merit. For example, many jobs do not get posted at all (is this legal at all?) and promotions are often given to people that are not competent (just because they have a relationship with whoever is making the promo decision).
Also, the business operations (plants) and the corporate office are not on the same page and often the corporate office makes decisions that adversely affects plants and plant workers (they also do it without consulting with operations folks that have feet on the ground).
Finally, HR wants to do good but the quality of resources is not that great. Having poor HRIS solutions does not help, and it's hard to get anything accomplished here.
So, no layoffs at all but many internal issues that will have to be addressed by General Cable executives - if some exec is reading this please do something about it...
