Thread regarding Tesoro Corp. layoffs

Is the Marathon buyout a good thing for Andeavor?

Is it a good thing that Marathon is buying out Tesoro/Andeavor? Tesoro/Andeavor seemed to improve with new leadership over the past 8 years. How will the cultures of Andeavor and Marathon mesh?

Any word on what functions/departments will have a presence in San Antonio office now that MPC has cleared house of all the deadwood.

Now that MPC has cleared out all the deadwood from P66 and BP what is the culture/vibe like at the San Antonio office?

Also who exactly opened the gates to allow all this deadwood into Tesoro/Andeavor back in 2013. I don’t believe all the blame can be put on HR as they don’t have hiring authority...but the non-deadwood Tesoro/Andeavor hiring manager did.

Worked for Tesoro from 2010 to early 2018. Thoroughly enjoyed the first 3-4 years and watched the company grow and improve during that time. Then in late 2013, the low performing deadwood from P66 and BP began joining the company in droves, starting the death spiral. Left for an Oil Major in early 2018 before the Marathon announcement. The P66 and BP cronyism was unbearable. Actual performance no longer mattered. And Corporate HR was completely ineffective. Marathon has already cleaned house. Few former BP and P66 leaders survived the acquisition. Deadwood.

What will happen to the subcontracts Andeavor had with companies like S&S petroleum?

Was there when Chevron sold out to Western. The energy was amazing. From my point of view, there were many good people and moral was very good. Lasted until Western bought out Giant. From that point you could see the decline in moral. We had mid level managers doing political hiring and marginalizing other employees to make room for their friends. I got SJW'd out of my job. HR literally hired unqualified people for jobs and berated me for their lack of performance. This happens when upper management doesn't have someone with a focus on operations. That being said, upper management built a lot of infrastructure setting up for the future. Marathon should do well with the assets if they can clean up the culture within the Andeavor organization.

Worked there for a few years (Andeavor), and just left not too long ago. The company was rotting from within, and maybe Marathon can clean it up. The constant reorganizations, the pitifully detached HR department, the lack of a clear directive, and the reliance on failing innovative projects (ProjectOne) had Andeavor somewhat on the ropes in terms of employee morale. I LOVED working there when I started, and figured I'd work there for 25-30 years until I retired. But the interminable chaos of the company made it less and less likely, and now I am enjoying my post-Andeavor career.

Good thing for who? Shareholders? CEO? Certainly not good for the hardworking employees that are really responsible for the companies improvement over the last 8 years.

It just goes to show how far out of touch the C-suite is with reality and the day-to-day, if they expect employees to remain loyal and "focused on delivering the 2018 plan". Get ready for a mass exodus of employees who have made the company what it is today.
